I comprehend that way better than I comprehend my own consciousness. I am me. I am not you. Was I ever me before? Will I be me again? What is it like to not be me?

It's not. You are inside a universe that is finite but has no boundary, no edge. It is expanding - that is - the distances between everything inside that universe are increasing. In two dimensions it is easier to imagine. For example, the earth has a surface that is finite but has no edge.*
*Unless you are a flat earther, in which case, please disregard the above.

The size of the observable universe in miles or km or whatever is absolutely tiny compared to the number of ways you can arrange one deck of cards (52!). The number has 68 digits. That blows my mind.

In other words: the distance to the nearest star is already so huge that crossing it with today’s technology takes about as long as a single cell would need to crawl once around the entire Earth.
Take the short cut. We are on a hunk of rock hurling through space and time. Surely there is a pocket protector wearing fricker that can find a short cut.

It's the space between objects that are not gravitationally bound that is expanding, the the universe itself is not expanding into anything.
