I see a lot of Boeing’s problems being blamed on the merger with McDonnell Douglas and the management takeover by MBA’s, but their planes are just as safe today as they have ever been. The 737 rudder design issue in the 90s happened before McDonnell Douglas
There is so much talk ev...
Ah it's time for Karmew32's monthly 1998 KSU post. If only this facemask got called maybe KSU wouldn't have even been in the Big 12 title game. ...
Boeing was once a great company committed to excellence not it’s a shite company committed to building everything as cheaply as possible. The merger with MD did them in
You referring to the Boeing that delivered an aircraft with a design flaw which led to thrust reversers deploying ...
People today take no pride in their work. Their sole goal each day is to do the bare minimum necessary so they’re not told at the end of the day to not bother coming back.
Give me a break, there were so many fatal aviation accidents related to maintenance issues in the past. On...
- The 757 airframe should not have been hastily retired after 9/11. Instead it should have been modified. Then there'd be no reason for a MAX-9 or MAX-10 (or a A321).
Sales were declining for the 757 with airlines interested in smaller aircraft. The Max 8/9/10 all have fewer seats...

re: Will Boeing ever catch up to Airbus?

Interesting you chose a picture of the A380, an aircraft that is already out of production and airlines are quickly retiring their fleets. Airbus completely misread the future commercial market by producing a giant quad jet....
For you older guys - back in the 70’s and 80’s DC -10’s scared the crap out of me. I’d fly on a Max before a DC-10.
The DC-10 got a bad rap early on, especially the AA crash that ended up being due to a bad maintenance procedure, but turned out to be a long haul/cargo workhorse. ...
Add to that the merger of Boeing and I forget who else caused a fundamental change in the development and construction practices of their jets.
Let's not pretend that Boeing didn't have many hull losses that weren't pilot error long before they merged....
So easy that in the previous 27 years of service it never happened before to a 747?
I am not sure your point, Boeing and other aircraft manufacturers understand the huge risk fuel vapors pose in the tanks and design systems to prevent them from exploding. Aviation history is f...
At the time I ordered a printed copy of the Cal Tech tests that tried to recreate the jet fuel and spark theory. It didn't work. There are lots of tests on YouTube showing how hard it is to ignite a pool of kerosene (jet fuel). Something has to turn it into a mist for it to be easily ignit...
Thanks! Glad you like it. It was a relatively quick build. I had a total of four days in it, so roughly 32-34 hours give or take.
I am extremely envious of your build times and ability to just get kits built. On a current project I probably spent over 34 hours alone just reshapi...
The big thing would have been if Stalingrad fell and the Germans got access to the Russian oil fields.
Taking Stalingrad was irrelevant, the Germany Army in the fall of 1942 was a shell of the army of June 1941 and relied heavily on poorly trained and equipped Axis allies to cover...
