Coffee maker recommendations

Any recommendations for a quality coffee maker that won't break the bank?
I know there are some coffee makers that are $500 or more. Not in that socioeconomic class.
Just a good cup of coffee. No need for expresso making, etc.

Hamilton Beach Flexbrew.
Of course, more info from you would help.

Wife loves her Nespresso. I don't like it because it has a significant layer of foam on top (by design for this model Nespresso). Depending on the pod, you can make coffee or espresso.

The wife uses a Cuisinart 14 cup drip coffee maker.
Probably like $50 tops.
That one is probably sufficient. Just checking in to see if there is a diamond in the rough out there...

If you want a real cup of coffee just get any brand of old fashioned peculator. By the time you run the coffee through a filter you've lost a lot of the taste.

Bunn. 10 cups in four minutes, one button, no waiting.

Moccamaster is about $360.
Bonavita can be had for around $150-$250. I had a Bonavita…. Lost it in the divorce.
Then I got the Moccamaster. Both make great cups and both are certified by the Specialty Coffee Association.
If you get the Bonavita, you can get the Baratza Encore grinder for about the price of the Moccamaster.

I just bought a new coffee maker. I opted for another Kureg because there is virtually no cleanup.
No water reservoir this time…pour the mug of water in, place the mug and press the button. Bought it at Walmart for about $70.

If you appreciate good drip coffee, it’s important to buy a maker that will heat water to the “gold cap” standard, but not too hot where it tastes burnt.
I highly recommend the Bonavita Connoisseur 8 cup. It makes an excellent cup, won’t break the bank & has a Pre-infusion mode. I also highly recommend a decent Burr grinder to go along with it. The Baratza Encore is awesome.

Just get a Mr Coffee or generic version from Wal Mart and move on. Really can’t think of that yourself?

Forget espresso. Spend your money where it counts: grinder, beans, water.
Grinder: A good burr grinder beats any machine.
Beans: Freshly roasted only. Use within 4 to 5 weeks of roast date. Don't grind until you need it. Supermarket beans are crap.
Water: Seriously. It’s half the cup. Look up Third Wave.
Brewing: Start with a Clever Dripper. Easy, consistent, no fuss.
These three basics (grinder, beans, water) will make good coffee.
Later, you can try the espresso or fancier machines. Brevilles, Moccamaster, Bonavita—all are fine - but only if your grinder, beans, and water are solid.
