Sad thing is, we have to explain to these dumb people that you can't twerk across a stage at graduation. On what planet do you have to do that?

There is no salvaging the current polity. The only rational future for civilized, educated people—the heirs of Athens, Rome, and the Enlightenment—is to carve out a sovereign nation of our own. Somewhere on this continent, or beyond if necessary: a meritocratic redoubt where borders are real, culture is defended, and the vulgar horde is kept at bay by iron will and superior intellect. History’s enlightened remnants have done it before. We must do it now, or watch the light of the West flicker out under waves of imported barbarism. The time for polite denial is over. Secede intellectually, then physically—or perish in the ruins.

They're a few generations removed from the jungles so the mating rituals are still strong with them.

Sounds like if SFP had a daughter.

I’ll never understand it. It’s a graduation not a concert, not a competition. I went to 2 high school graduations this year, a public school in Birmingham and a private school in New Olreans. Both had multiple equally cartoonish outbursts.

"This was supposed to be a celebratory moment and I made it about myself."

And this part gets so lost amongst a small segment of the population. Yes, getting your name called as you walk across the stage is a celebration about your accomplishment. However, that celebration is expected to be for a brief duration so they can then call the next person for them to be acknowledged for their accomplishments.

And what makes it worst is as soon as one person does something, the next person that will follow suit must one-up them.

I wonder what school will be the first one to stop the "walking across the stage" element of graduations due to changing consumer habits

Well, it does quickly become a competition as soon as the first family/graduate acts out.

I saw stuff like this at the La Tech graduation last month. Not quite the splits but, plenty of dancing.

It’s a formal occasion, it should be implied that you shouldn’t do that.

OK. She is putting on the Goody Two Shoes deal in the on-camera interview and she seems like just a kind of lighthearted person who is not malicious.

However, that was kinda graphic with the whole split and bouncing up and down a few times like she was in a late 90s/early 2000s Thong Song video.

If I was an administrator, I would not have yelled or lost my shite, but I would have definitely leaned toward: No need for all that.

It’s implied that you shouldn’t do a lot of things yet idiot warnings get added to them because of lawyers.
