But how do you know if you'll be in the lucky percentage or unlucky percentage? Maybe he should've asked the robber what his intentions were

Nobody ever said it was easy to carry a gun and determine correctly when to use it.

and hey, y'all go ahead and shoot whoever you want to. I'm going to shoot when life is in danger.

I think y'all are oversimplifying the matter.

Looked up some stats because I was curious. Granted these were from 1987.

LINK

Apparently 1/3rd of all robberies involve injury. 1 in 12 involve serious injury including broken bones, knife wounds, gunshot wounds. Between 9.3 and 10.8% of all homicides have robbery as the circumstance or motive.

Those are the best rates I could find from the BJS. There are more up to date ones I'm sure, but it would take some intense googling.

So there you go. People kill people while robbing. It happens a lot. People injure even more frequently.

I don't really care to have the responsibility to carry around a handgun all the time, but I'm sure glad there are other people out there who like to carry and blast people like this. Makes me feel a little better.

These family members are fricking idiots. I get being sad your dumb frick of a brother etc. is dead, but he's dead because he chose to act in a reckless and lawless fashion that portrayed himself as someone with the intent to do harm to everyone around him.

frick that. He deserved any amount of bullets that he got.

Any word in the article on when this kid was set to enroll in college? Was medical school in his future?

Re the father's comments, I have no doubt that this poor lost soul was only trying to get food for his family & had never ever done this despicable act before. Just bad luck that he tried it once & got shot once. Assuming that POTUS will be attending his funeral, though, and that Black Lives Matter will be the honor guard.

Court records, however, reveal another side of Gildersleeve. They show he had been arrested at least half a dozen times dating back to the 1980s. Several arrests had to do with narcotics, but most of the incidents involved theft or robbery. He was in and out of prison, with burglary convictions as recent as 2005.

Why is Chicago not paying everyone $15 an hour so they don't have to rob others?

What kid? The armed robber was married to the commentor's mother. He was 45 years old and had at least ten felonies. He was out on bond when robbing the bodega.

Halloween or not, you take out what looks like a real gun, people have seconds to react. CC shooter did the right thing.

What did people want him to do, stay holstered and walk up to the guy and ask him if his gun was real first?

In other words, it would be reasonable for a person to assume that injury or death is a likely outcome when a robber points what appears to be a real gun at them. Therefore, case closed. One less robber.
