Nothing more degrading then getting spanked in school. When that went away, the classrooms became what they are today...war zones.

Within his role as an administrator, would the actions between a teacher and student fall under his authority? Would this be something that would be discussed with him if the teacher was not his wife?

MS teacher and HS Principal work in two different buildings. He has no interest to the meeting.

She apologized

You’re not one to pursue canceling someone

What more do you want then?

And it’s not uncommon at all for teachers to record parent meetings, they need that protection, trust me

There are student confidentiality laws regarding who teachers and administrators can discuss student information with. It appears that was broken in this instance if the teacher was indeed communicating with her husband about it.

I would probably let it go but keep close tabs on how your son is treated by the teacher and others at the school.

FOIA is for federal records only. Does not apply to private institutions or state/local governments.

If it is a civil rights issue it is federal. If the teacher had done something that violated the kids civil rights and the conversation was being recorded on her husband's phone I would bet it could be FOIAd for a pile of money.

Wait, you wanted a meeting with the fricking superintendent because someone gave your kid an arse chewing? If my parents had a meeting with the school every time someone chewed my dumb arse out, they would’ve never gone home. You’re not doing your kid any favors here.

Don't think this is right, because I've seen a few dozen FOIA go to our local school board, county commission, and definitely to the state legislature.

He's 12. He's 100% aware he should have taken more time, and I'm sure the teacher preached this daily for weeks. Also, maybe her words were stern, but he will be taking the ACT/SAT by 15/16.

If he half-arsed sports practice, his coach would yell at him too.

Bingo!

I pray OP's son never tries a varsity or even a JV sport where a coach will blast your arse daily if he sees you even attempt to slack off or take a shortcut on the field/court.

OP and his wife would have the coach sitting in front of the school board for planting bad seed's and degrading their child.
