Going off your posting history, she probably wasn't too far off.

If your kids not fulfilling his potential then your message that this concerns you just as it seems to concern the teacher is an important one for him to hear. Sounds like the teacher lost it but at least she still gave a crap out learning outcomes.

My kids rarely complained and IF they ever came home and told me something that happened at school I would ALWAYS side with the teacher, period. Kids are little shits full of attitudes and when there's a minimum 25:1 ratio in a classroom for 8 hrs a day, I give the teacher the benefit of the doubt.
My son once came home in 6th grade and the wife asked him what the white stuff was all over the back of his navy collared shirt? He said, "Ms. So&So threw an eraser at the back of my head in class because I was nearly asleep during the class reading". My wife threw the shirt back at him and said, "That'll teach you to pay attention next time, you little shite!"

Two party consent state. I would ask in writing if the meeting was recorded and if so, as for a copy of the recording.

Long post ahead because I genuinely hope you see the light on this, for your kid’s sake…
If your kid has a C average in 6th-7th grade, I hate to break it to you.. but your kid is not a good student.
But your kid did do something wrong, which led to the exchange.
No, but I think as a parent you should generally be more focused on your child than your child’s teachers. You have a clear sign that your kid doesn’t give a shite about class, but instead of worrying about that you’re coming up with conspiracy theories (which don’t make sense BTW - if the husband wanted to listen on the phone he would have no reason to do it from the hallway).
You are instilling a victim mentality. The more you talk about it the more I’m inclined to believe that you’re one of those “my child is an angel” parents who puts up blinders when it comes to their own child’s misdeeds.
I would be pissed if I found out my kid just clicked through one of those tests - especially if they weren’t a great student to begin with. I would use the teacher’s words as an opportunity to demonstrate that life isn’t always fair and sometimes people overreact, but we have to control what we can control. I can assure you that your kid will encounter many more a-hole teachers and/or bosses throughout their life.
I definitely wouldn’t be making excuses for him, or making veiled threats about anti-bullying laws to the school, or looking for some reason to be mad at the teacher’s husband. I might ask for a meeting to understand exactly what went down, and I might be a bit peeved about what she said.. but she apologized, so I’d let it go and focus on my kid.
But that’s just me..

So you think teachers should insult their students?

"The [FOIA] act explicitly applies only to government agencies under the executive branch."
State governments have their own version of the FOIA act. To say you want to FOIA state government is like saying you want a Big Mac at Burger King.
