What camera footage are you looking for?

Here’s what it sounds like you’re trying to say:
1. Teacher went off on your kid unnecessarily.
2. You had a meeting with teacher and principal, teacher apologized, you said you wouldn’t take it any further from there.
3. You saw teacher’s husband in the hallway and now want to take it further because you think he might have been listening to your meeting…?
4. So now you think there’s more to the story and want to see video of the incident?

Sounds a little paranoid. Dude was probably just there because his wife was freaked out. And if you think something nefarious happened, have you asked your kid?

I just don’t get why the presence of a husband who works at the same site is the catalyst for this concern. If your kid is being weird about it that’s different obviously.

And said kid did "nothing."

There's always two sides to the story. I'd like to hear the other.

That's the difference in generations. If a teacher went off on me at school, my parents would have done the same when I got home...not call the school. Due to whatever I did to anger said teacher.

Teachers use to be able to hit kids. Now they can’t even yell at them

The teacher was probably so worked up and upset the day before, the husband came by to check on her after the meeting. I would see the meeting as a positive if she said she went too far and wouldn’t do it again.

What did your kid do wrong?

Rushed on a state test section 17/30 mins. He’s 12. The teacher went off on him telling him he’s a failire, won’t be anything in the future, never going to go to college then held him at recess.

I don’t mind her telling off my kid for rushing but he has a B in her class, all grades above a C, the state test has no weight on his future and internally it was pushed to teachers to punish kids on the last day of testing because the school has had poor performance on state tests the last few years - was informed by principal. Not one call was made during the week and it was subjective because the teacher had a bad day.

It’s nothing crazy but knowing her husband is an administrator and she’s been in teaching for over 15 years I find it hard to believe this is her first time. She also pissed me off in the meeting when she said it’s her job to start planting these seeds into kids head. If he was a senior with his head up his arse with a month to go, I get it. She wouldn’t like her kids travel ball coach telling him he won’t make it because of a strikeout so why do it to my kid in an educational setting?

Don’t think my kid will hurt them by not spending an extra 13 mins. Also what if he did good on that section? She doesn’t even know the result lol

And he’s never been below district avg or state any other year. No disciplinary actions and like I posted a b in her class and no grade below a c.

Well you’re ignorant yourself because if you actually read this thread you’d know I’m not in La.

So what video are you looking for and what do you think it will accomplish?

To know why an administrator was waiting for his wife in a different building than his during school hours.

And if video showed him with a phone to his ear it would imply he was listening.

It’s just ridiculous that one a teacher felt the need to say that then what was her husband going to do? The meeting never escalated and I just pointed out not to do it because it’s state law for zero bullying on school grounds. If you look up the statute it explains this. It’s also on their school website with a program to document all incidents and investigate them. I chose not to go that far because I’m a nice guy. However it isn’t sitting right and just weird he was there.

Bad enough where she apologized to us and then him.

Love the OT, teachers banging kid thread everyday but impossible for a teacher to degrade a student over something stupid.

Ah I see. So it actually has nothing to do with the “incident” - you’re just obsessing over this guy being there for his wife.

You’re threatening teachers based on anti-bullying laws because they chewed out your (mediocre student) kid for half-assing a state test. Yeah, you’re a “nice guy.”

Newsflash: shite like this is exactly why you hear teachers talking about how their hands are tied on everything. Teachers have to deal with overbearing parents who think their kid can do no wrong. Instead of using this as a learning experience in personal accountability for your kid, you run down to the school, threaten the teacher, and demand an apology. And they actually give you an apology because that’s how fricked up the system and parents have become.. reinforcing your belief that little Johnny is the victim.

Meanwhile, all he takes away from the whole episode is that Mommy and Daddy will come threaten the teacher if he gets in trouble. Bravo.

Same in La. As long as one party being recorded is aware of the recording, it's legal and admissible (at least it was when I took law back in college).

Does that still work if the party recording the meeting is not part of the conversation and isn't even in the room. I always thought (not an attorney) that for LA's 1-party rule to apply one of the parties have to be the one recording.
