BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police officers are investigating a deadly shooting that happened in broad daylight in the city on Saturday, August 29 with multiple people shot.
It was around 4:45 p.m. when officers responded to an apartment complex at 650 N. Ardenwood Drive for a shooting involving multiple victims.
Upon arrival, officers found four people shot at the scene. All four were transported to a hospital, where 22-year-old Latrell Trumble died from his injuries. The others shot are expected to survive their injuries, BRPD said.
While investigating, officers say a 14-year-old was also shot at the scene, whose family took him to the hospital. He had non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation so far indicates the shooting likely resulted from an ongoing dispute, which involved
multiple verbal and physical confrontations between individuals connected to both parties. Officers added the dispute may have started the night before and continued throughout the following day.

Was that the only shooting incident over the weekend? If so, it sounds bad, but I'd say it's an improvement. One more murderer off the streets.

If it's north of I-12, shooting deaths are now classified as "natural causes".

In order to solve this, we need to enact some gun laws restricting the rights of hard working suburban dads.

These people are like the Iranians. Sociopaths with firearms that are completely ignorant to or indifferent of whatever consequences they receive be it imprisonment or getting killed themselves. Long as they make their point. Maybe 100 new BRPD officers can make a difference or slow it down.

Summer of peace is over.

I stay a couple of weeks in Fort Collins each summer. Its not as big as BR at 170k, but its still a decent sized city. They had 3 murders in 2024 (2025 isn't released yet). That is a good weekend in BR during the summer.
Its just so bizarre what becomes normal for a city.
