What has Lane actually done?

He left a job, took some coaches and still allowed some of those coaches to finish their seasons. We don't actually KNOW what happened with Williams, but Lane didn't do that.
Im sure they had all kinds of rebuttals basically approving of these tactics by common people.

Eta: I honestly don't kmow how he does that job. There almost isn't enough Xanax in the world to contain me having to sit and deal with those people daily.
Im just going to say it and everybody can downvote me to hell, but this has character flaw written all over it. Maybe i'm wrong, I don't know the inner workings or what happened where. Maybe the guy feels like he got duped or taken advantage of somehow, but I feel like these situations have a higher propensity to miss than to hit. Even still, through all of this, LSU doesn't have a QB.
Not complaining at all, because we have lost some DL, but man, it's time to start signing some OL.
Well, if you can hold opponents scoreless, you don't need a good QB.
Im all for this getting more put of hand than it already is, then there's nowhere else to turn. Representatives for schools and reps for players will have to get together and form a working agreement. Then we'll get some structure and law and order back.

they can’t do jack shite to prevent him from leaving

No. The most they can do is seek damages, i.e. compensation for breach of contract. What the penalty is will be outlined in the contract. I hope they do, honestly. Im ready for this whole NIL farce to end.

I love how bipolar this board is sometimes. From catastrophe syndrome to pure euphoria and sometimes back to catastrophe syndrome all in about 15 minutes.
Leavitt is in town, that doesn't work if it's not true.

This may have been talked about, but we need one more RB, who is the top target and what would the depth chart look like?

Use what LSU can offer to the fullest extent possible IMO

That's high school recruiting. That's only a part of the puzzle amd isn't really in play this year. The whole allure of LSU is that you can nail down top 5 recruiting classes every year and when portal time comes you target the best of the best and fill out your recruiting misses. You're just trying to put together the best class you can at this point. It's a coaching change roster, and you aren't going to get the best 25 from the portal, it jist doesn't happen like that.
There are 4,000 players in the portal. They haven't even had enough time to properly evaluate highlights yet and you're wanting the to have signed 20+ players?

Just tap the brakes. A majority of the schools that have double digit transfers are coaches that left a program and took a slew of players with them to their next stop.
10M base, heavy incentives that can bring it up to 16M. Some incentives really really easy to hit. Practice bonus, $1M bonus for dressing for 16 games, etc. Incentives on the back end that he actually has to work for.

It's just odd. He's not old and at one time seemed to be a truly elite coach.

My opinion is that he really doesn't want a part of coaching anymore, but he's not going to throw away the rest of that money on his contract. The game is different now, and he jist doesn't want to adapt to it.
Only if he bent the knee to the crystal football.

This isn't NFL free agency. In college, i feel like you actually have a better shot to make money by waiting. There are 130+ FBS teams, with 100+ roster spots in the NCAA. Not 32 teams with 60 roster spots in the NFL.
