Walk-On’s food is one small step above an Applebees. It’s gross.

Now…Cmon bro. It’s far from gross. Please tell me a National sports bar that’s better.

But this board told me that Atlanta was just a bigger version of Baton Rouge.

Brain drain for the Louisiana is a real thing. CS, EE, and ISDS majors aren’t staying in Louisiana if they don’t have anything tying them down in the state. Way more opportunity and higher salaries with equity elsewhere.

If a major company can't send its employee's children to safe, well-rated public schools, then it's not going to consider your location. There are lots of issues with BR but that will always be the killer that inhibits any growth.

Glad my "TOPS degree" came from Louisiana-Lafayette.

And in my defense, I still stayed for about 11 years paying LA state income taxes before bolting across the Sabine.

We are friends with a restaurant manager who moved to Knoxville after working in the D.C. metro area.
He told us about the company man from Atlanta, then about that guy's replacment from Atlanta, then that company got sold and more replacements from Atlanta. Then he moved to a different franchise, again company men from Atlanta, then yet another franchise.

It almost sounded like the college assistant coach merry-go-round but with bean counters who were specialists in chain-franchise restaurants.

I expect the corporate cocktail parties are boring as all get out, but they do speak the same language of acquisitions, location acquisition, etc.

And it sounds as if Atlanta is the center of that world, especially if you're looking to take over or be taken over for a profit for the corp. owners.

How bout you just quit giving TOPS to every swinging dick with a C average and give it to the kids who academically excel?

You can’t penalize the graduate for doing well when you’re gonna bribe him to stay in state for college to begin with. It’s not his/her fault they get a Better opportunity elsewhere. That’s on you for voting for the same shitheads who create a business unfriendly environment. Probably cause you think that shithead is “one of us”.

Honestly, I kind of doubt Walk-On's leadership abilities due to the fact they remained "based" in Baton Rouge as long as they had. This state is a great place to develop business ideas. But it's also hostile to business and there's a myriad of things that make it idiotic to try and remain here when there's other states courting you.

How many businesses have hilariously left here besides Canes, Smoothie King, and now Walk-Ons? It's tough to keep up. Is anyone keeping a master list for when we need a laugh at how poor and stupid we are?

I have been saying for years that students who use TOPS to get a college education and then leave for a job outside within 5-10 years of graduating should be forced to pay back their tuition.

Even if there's no decent jobs in their field due to the politics and business climate? Make those grads pay back money because elected officials have their hands out?

TOPS was a great way to get my undergrad degree and then that foundation helped me move straight to Texas after getting my MBA.
