Ok but how many of the mice were vaccinated?

The omicron version killed no mice.
The chimera version killed 80% of mice.
The original Wuhan strain in this experiment killed 100% of mice
But the Omicron is a lot more transmissable than original Wuhan.
So if they can basically mutuate the Omicron to an 80 percent kill rate... then they are going to have something that kills 80 percent of a much larger population, as opposed to original Wuhan, which killed 100 percent of a much smaller population.

If you read the pre-print of the paper (not peer reviewed yet), instead of the pants-wetting inducing Daily Mail article with the scary headline, the intention of the experiment was to determine how the virus breaks through vaccine immunity by these spike protein mutations.
I don’t give a baker’s frick why they’re doing it. They ruined the world with it last time and used this exact same justification for doing it. Are you aware of what Gain of Function is? All of those scientists can go frick themselves.
If you want to see the potential ramifications and arrogance of these scientists rewatch the lunch scene from Jurassic Park and then multiply that by a million. If what that article says is true and the virus manages to escape the lab, then that’s the end of civilization as we know it. The 20% that survive would largely starve to death taking humanity from 8 billion to around to around say 300 million.

Trying to read through the Methods section and, just from scanning, I don't think inoculation with vaccine was part of the treatment for the mice.
So none of them were vaccinated.

GOF is very illegal. We were funding it in China bc it’s illegal here. This is so messed up

In fairness, the Daily Mail does publish some outstanding material.

That’s helpful.
Let’s make a virus mutate to the point that it’s garunteed to kill everyone

Does anyone still doubt that Covid was engineered in a lab and released intentionally? And I think we all understand why it was done.

The researchers... But how do we know if a bullet-proof vest works unless we put one on and shoot ourselves with a bullet?

Oh it was absolutely created in a lab

and released intentionally
Not willing to go here without more evidence. An "accident" is still very possible scenerio. Or, it was just stolen and released given lax Chinese security standards.

The media is still pushing this bullshite:
quote:
COVID-19 first spread from a wet market in Wuhan, China, which was located near a lab in which its scientists were working on similar viruses involving bats, though studies earlier this year bolstered the theory that the coronavirus emerged from the wild.

I won’t know how to feel about this until it can be framed through the lens of how it affects marginalized communities!!
