Atmospheric river. Cat 5 at landfall for a Cat 3 storm. Bomb cyclone. These are terms used to scare people and make them watch the Weather Channel.

Northeast/upper mid-atlantic gets them regularly; pretty much every major snowstorm in that area is a bomb cyclone, but the term is definitely used way more often than it used to be for seemingly no other reason than clickbait and fear mongering. We just called them nor'easters

Yup started using Bomb about 5-10 years ago, because cyclone is not bad enough. This is more of the leftist/globalist climate fear word salad.
