I wouldn’t like my chances of surviving the encounter, no matter what I did, if a cop came up on me while I had a gun in my hand.
Even if I wanted to comply.

Cops are fricked. He was absolutely putting the weapon down. You can see how he's holding it(not gripped to fire) and the motion.
And plus. He tries to say "But you told me to put.." and she screams at him again.

This ain't a clear cut case like Alton Sterling that's for sure.

I'm pro cops 95% of the time I'd say but I agree that it seems as if he was putting it down and she blasted him at first movement. That being said he should have put it down the first time they told him to.

Alton was clear cut? I mean, we all know what happened now, but I still do not think it was clear cut.

no way for you to know that. He had about dozen chances to put the gun down, but he didn't. definitely didn't need to die over it, but its on him. He coulda dropped it the first twenty times they told him to.

Dude looked like he was trying to be cool in front of whoever was in the car.

Hes cool now aint he?

It was clear cut. He was pulling a gun. All he had to do was let loose of it and he would be alive.

frick the race baiters that muddied the water on that for their personal agendas.

Indisputable Fact: Alton struggled with cops with a loaded gun in his pocket.

I'ts of my opinion that's a clear-cut way to get kilt by cops and they be cleared in the shooting.

Because your finger can still pull a trigger even after being shot in the knees.

frick. It does look like he was setting the gun down. From the video, it looks like it was pointed across his body toward the cops, but his grip was as if he was putting it on the ground. The cops have to make a split second decision real time based on that. We can see the grip in the video, but could they?

Shitty situation all around. How exactly was he expected to safely put the gun down at the point in time that he did. I get that he should have done it sooner. I think the cops are going to get hammered on this one.

I agree it looks like he was probably pulling it out to put it down since he followed with “But you told me to put...”

I don’t think the cops are fricked though. They may be suspended and there may be some sort of civil case but criminally, the courts give cops a lot of rope in these cases.

If the guy had told them “okay I’m taking it out and will put it down” I doubt she ever shoots.

The fact that he crouched there apparently contemplating whether it was worth it to live or die without responding to several commands by the officers and then just pulled the gun out, i think it’s reasonable to argue that they didn’t know what he was going to do when he pulled the gun out.

Also there was a guy right in front of him in the car. They don’t know if he’s going to use the gun on that guy.

The courts advise juries in these cases that they’re not allowed to review the reasonableness of an action by an officer with the 20/20 view of hindsight but rather with what was actually going on in the moment. Body cameras have made it easier for juries to put themselves in the cops’ shoes in these cases.

That's gonna end badly for the cop. I know that's an incredibly tense situation but he was lowering the gun very slowly, no need to think he was trying to do anything differently. They were also telling him to put it on the ground, which it did appear he was doing.

I could not make sense of what he was doing while he was crouched down there. Was he all fricked up on something and being slow, is he off in the head, or was he contemplating his next move like you suggest?
