now it looks like the AEA is condemning the police as well.
The police should refuse to provide security for these games.

You can tell that idiot has not watched one video about this incident. The poster jumped to conclusions and immediately started puking left wing talking points that have nothing to do with this situation. Totally uninformed and has no desire to educate themselves on this incident. He is just as bad as the bootlickers that he is railing against, same side of the coin

You're telling me one of our local allies didn't watch the video at all and is just spewing talking points?

I'm shocked.

Exactly!
Dispersing the crowd so fights & shootings is the motive of the police in this situation.

Regardless if you agree or disagree with the officers, you still can’t hold court and disobey a lawful order.

Band director should loose his job just because of the awful example he demonstrated before his students.

its the demographics. this stuff actually brings fights and killings in that community.

Which is why they banned the 5th quarter bs.

Well, apparently, in this area, they bring violence.

It should bring people together, but it apparently doesn’t.

Maybe I don’t understand band but the visual of a director hyping them up like Ray Lewis in the Ravens locker room cracks me up.

Yeah, I’m getting a visual of Will Muschamp punching a chalkboard or Coach O flipping out getting a band ready to perform.

It is a great example to provide the future of this nation...that the state's muscle will ALWAYS overreact when their demands are not satisfied immediately. Maybe those kids will change that....

The alternative, the police tell him it’s time to go, he ignores them, they let him do what he wants, it shows the kids they can ignore the police.

Naturally, there’s a middle ground that could’ve been reached, the BD refused.

you are correct - which is why the School Board and the police were doing what they could to try and curb any violence that could occur.

and this

quote:

“Juandalynn Givan, the attorney for band director Johnny Mims, said the bands were taking part in fifth quarter. This is a time after the game when some high schools and historically Black colleges and universities will have their bands battle to see who is better.”

given the fact she chose to ignore the fact that the 5th quarter was banned by the school board, which is largely minority represented, tells me she is completely full of shite and looking to push a race/police violence narrative.

also to add - there was no "battle of the bands" after the game - the opposing side left, ad this BD's band was the only one left - so again, what was the point? if anything security and the police allowed him to continue to let the bank play 18 to 20 mins after they asked him to stop, and only then when they said ok your time is up, he got combative.

heaven forbid folks give the police props for handing a situation correctly.

After 8 pages, was the law broken, cited?

It appears as though per school district policy there is no "5th quarter" for bands in the district. The band director knew that, but did it anyway. Someone of authority still at the game asked security/police to end it. At that point the director and all involved become trespassers. Security/police attempted to convey that the band needed to leave. The director refused and commenced to acting like a fool. He was subsequently detained and then arrested.

Is the "5th quarter performance" done by the winning team's band? Sort of like a "You got served" thing?

They told him to stop. He said this is the last song and it was. Unless it was an exceptionally long song it sounds like the cop didn't like the fact the band didn't stop mid-note and arrested the director for not stopping immediately.

Unless of course the story is wrong orbim misreading. I think either of the first two is true. Slight chance on my misreading.

Why can’t people understand that fighting with the cops is never the correct response. Check your ego, comply with the cops and then if you don’t agree or feel like you have been wronged get an attorney and file whatever lawsuits you want. Simple.

It isn't done at all, per policy.
