They told him to stop. He said this is the last song and it was. Unless it was an exceptionally long song it sounds like the cop didn't like the fact the band didn't stop mid-note and arrested the director for not stopping immediately.
If you watch the video it starts with security saying he had ran over the time they agreed on. It sounds like per school district policy they weren't supposed to do anythings, but security gave them 5-10 minutes to do a couple songs. Band director said he didn't care, get outta my face. Security says we are going to call your school and report you now, and if you don't leave now we will detain you and remove you. Band director says that fine do what you have to do, get outta my face. After the song, security goes to detain him, he rushes one of the security guards and pins him against a fence, takes some swings at police who are now involved, pushes some cops, attempts to put his hands on a security guard's throat, yadda yadda FAFO.
quote:Slanted story making it more about the 5th quarter and the defendant's lawyer's testimony trying to get ahead of his termination. Video shows he was given tons of leeway and chose to FAFO.
Slight chance on my misreading

I get the impression from some Democrats that they think violence is okay as long as a gun isn’t involved (think how they enforce strikes)

Show me where the bad director did either one?

Cops only solve about 51% of murders and at least some of those they convict the wrong person.
Tell your brethren to start helping cops instead of siding with murderers and I bet that percentage might go up a hair.
And cops do not convict anybody. Are you a child? Or just a complete lunatic. I can’t imagine what your version of society is.

IKR. Nothing brings a community together quite like t-shirts with a teenagers face on it and a life gone too early because someone got disrespected at a 5th quarter. How dare the adults in the room make protocols to try and prevent that from happening, and how dare they taze and arrest someone putting kids in harm's way who was aggressive and argumentative for 18 minutes.
I’m pretty sure he was complimenting your post in a cheeky way but what you said here is exactly why adults in charge of kids have to follow rules like this.

You read through 8 pages of a thread, and didn't read the original article. Shocking.

Why can’t people understand that fighting with the cops is never the correct response. Check your ego, comply with the cops and then if you don’t agree or feel like you have been wronged get an attorney and file whatever lawsuits you want. Simple.
And these same people want you to believe they are terrified of cops, and that any interaction with a LEO is likely to lead to their death.

I don't understand why they let the band finish and then decided it was time to arrest him. They were going to leave which is what the cops wanted.

they allotted him more time - he ran over the time, they told him he was past the time they agreed on and had to leave - and he got combative.
in fairness - they didnt have to allot him any additional time since he was violating the school board rule to not do it.
if anything the situation did not escalate until the BD escalated it by shoving security and cops, swinging at them and then tryign to choke a security guard - all the while playing the victim.

Sure he ran over but they were done and were going to leave.
All they did was cause everyone to stay there even longer which is what they didn't want in the first place.
I just don't see the point of letting them finish if they were going to arrest the guy anyway.

no - he ran over and continued to play - which is why they moved to stop him and he got combative
and again, technically they didn't have to afford him the 18 to 20 min time they did - it was against School Board rules.

So no law and trespassed from a public place. Interesting. Good luck not losing that lawsuit.
How it should go down. "Kids stop playing against the rules." Kids keep playing. Everyone walks out and turns off the lights. They can play until they break a law. When they show up for school they are suspended from school for breaking the rules. Teacher deals with school board. Police need not be involved.

How many times does this happen? Do you have the statistics?
Do you have the statistics on airline mishaps as well?
Of course the data is difficult to obtain because the police would be the ones keeping it and why would they admit it was widespread? WIth the said in 2013 NYPD said of the 450 No Knock Raids they did for the year 45 were at the wrong address. There are about 20,000 a year in the US. If that number is accurate it would be 2000 times. If planes failed to land 1% of the time with all passengers safe most folks would be hesitant to fly. The police are putting themselves at sever risk as well as the public and doing it at the wrong address, at least by the admission of the NYPD in 2013, 10% of the time.
They also almost never find what they are looking for when they do have the correct address. They only find the person they were looking for about 36% of the time, so about once every 3 times. They find illegal drugs they thought they'd find about 30% of the time so about once every 3 times. What they do find, interestingly enough, is guns which are illegal and they were not looking for...which may well be the reason they do it, to enforce gun laws which are not popular, especially among the demographic of people who actually support the police. If the police were kicking in doors at the wrong address 10% of the time and making arrests for weapons violations when they were not looking for weapons the NRA crowd would have a fricking stroke...but cache that activity in drug laws and put it in mostly minority neighborhoods and the NRA crowd suddenly finds an interest in any subject other than the state illegally seizing weapons.
