Worst town in Louisiana under 5000 people: Mamou

Worst town in Louisiana under 10000 people: Ville Platte

Lake D'Arbonne was beautiful and fun in the summer, but Farmerville was a terrible place to grow up in the 70's. I doubt having a chicken processing plant and a McDonalds makes it any better today. They don't even have Folly Beach anymore.

Eunice in the 60s and 70s.

A stark contrast to Ville Platte.

I’d say Covington. That’s probably the only one.

You people are nuts, I wouldn't stop to take a shite in any of these places let alone raise a family. Get a grip on yourselves and better the lives of your children somewhere that they'll stand a chance of making a decent living.

Ville Platte is a shithole.

I haven't read the entire thread yet, but it didn't use to be. A nice State Park close, nice Cajun people, church going community, decent public and private schools, very good Dixie Youth baseball league, etc.

Then, well....

Specifically the Wham Brake area. It comes at a premium though.

Yeah, but other than a school named Central and CAYL, it didn't have that small town mentality.

Except we fought other schools/towns, we did do that. But mostly schools.

I was a minden baw. I sort of enjoyed growing up there; lots of nice neighborhoods, clean, charming, no crime, etc. The schools are a total joke, so I’m not sure if I’d recommend raising anyone there unless you’re sending your kid to a school in Shreveport or Ruston

otherwise it’s way nicer than the majority of small towns in Louisiana

Starks in Calcasieu Parish. It’s so small and quiet people from Lake Chuck think we are in Texas.
