After each week's completion, ESPN College Football analyst Cole Cubelic shares his "Sunday SEC takeaways."

Cubelic was on the call for the LSU-McNeese game and had a front-row seat to the Tigers' dominant win. Here's what he had to say:
quote:

LSU: Handled their business. QB looked comfy in pocket. Got ball out quick early. Set up throws down middle of the field. Got a little too confident down the middle. 14 can help them at TE, nice work as the splitter & out wide. RBs ran hard. OL solid, 77 really nice in run game. 61 good getting to 2nd level. Drops hurt. 11 can help them. Even situationally but just in general. Has a a live arm. Good wheels. Just enough DGAF in him. Has to take care of the ball. 22 better job getting north/south. They need others to emerge around 13. 23 showed juice. Cool to see 99 run one in. 3 looks like he is emerging. 83 can be a guy as year goes on. Did some nice things at WR. Got good reps for some defenses they will need. 24 at LB, 41 at end. Can help. 99 the real deal. Big time quicks. 97 good off the edge. Lost contain late. Don't stay home on end around. 1 made plays. 96 good inside. Impressive group in person. If get can get healthy...
Here's what Cubelic had to say about Kentucky, who LSU will face Saturday in Lexington:
quote:

KENTUCKY: Gutsy win on the road. Methodical but effective day on off. Had duo going early. Gap scheme got going later. Limited mistakes on off. 53 dominant in run game again. 72 good in run game. OL had some struggled in pass pro at times, inside rush got them a little. Edges were a problem on boots, sprint outs, etc. Hurt backside of gap scheme runs, got some pass rush off TEs & RBs there. QB confident operating the offense. Was close on some tight windows. Moved when he needed to but never panicked, took check downs. Misdirection helped. Used formations yo find space. PA effective. 19 was big. Has real juice. Can win at LOS, big catches, nice in open field, can separate. 81 good as lead blocker, run after on screen. Defense little better getting to QB. Contain was an issue. Scrambles hurt. Missed tackles on the one long run. 94 held point, disrupted consistently. 0 was good inside. 22 active. Need to improve in 3rd downs.
