There's one that I just can't put words to. It's like as if my central nervous system is in overdrive - feels weird, like maybe the feeling at the beginning of a really heavy workout when CNS spikes. It's like that but never comes down.

It's like somebody scared you. I mean really got you. Jumped behind a door and yelled "boo". That sensation lasts 2-3 seconds. You see the person and laugh about it and know it's ok. With anxiety there is nobody saying "boo" and it lasts 30 seconds. Your mind spins trying to make sense of it.

Is the withdrawal similar to opiate withdrawal?

no... nothing alike...

with opiate withdrawal, you have 3-5 days of intense physical withdrawal, followed by a few months of possible mental withdrawals.... and while you may feel like you are dying in the acute phase, you won't die from opiate WD's...

with benzos, the mental part is longer, possibly taking many months to years to being fully functional again, and you CAN die from benzo WDs...

Went to rehab for a Klonopin addiction, legally obtained, benzos are incredibly hard to OD on though.

So if you were to take a Xanax once a month (or every other month) as needed for a panic attack, what would the effects be on someone? What does the "mental part" refer to. I'm genuinely curious.

You ever hear of someone abusing Ambien? I recently learned that someone I know abuses Ambien for anxiety. Dude drops Ambien all the time in the middle of the day and somehow manages to half arse function.

I took my last dose at the beginning of the year after taking valium for sleep for 7 years. Spent the nine months prior tapering down. The withdrawal was still awful even doing that, and I was on a low dose.

How high was your dosage at it’s worse? You tapered for 9 months and it still sucked?

Np longer taking them to not even having them in the house or as an option is a big hurdle. The "security blanket" thing i mentioned earlier.

Throwing them away or taking that last one is a big leap and may cause a panic attack.

Here is a novel idea: don’t do drugs. I mean, life isn’t that bad.

I abused Ambien regularly like this or I’d drop Ambien then drink six beers a night. I’d help me sleep.

Problem is that you forget what you did for half a day after.

Example, apparently I told this dudes sister off one morning. Blacked out. Can’t remember this at all. Really good friend too. I basically told her she was a failure in life, etc. Friends with this guy for years. Will not talk to me again.

About 6 month period m, I don’t remember hardly anything before noon each day.

750 mg. of GABA on an empty stomach is the best sleeping pill known to mankind. You can buy it on Amazon and it’s cheap and has no side effects. I quit taking to sleep, this stuff is better.

Now, ambien is some messed up crap

Ambien was the only sleep med I ever took that worked perfectly with no side effects. Took 1 at bedtime, knocked out in 10 minutes, slept a full night, and woke up refreshed with no after-effects. Nothing else has ever worked like that for me. I’ve taken melatonin, Nyquil, ZzzzQuil...sleep is mixed and they all leave me groggy all morning.

I took it for a few months around 10 years ago, then had to switch doctors and the new one wouldn’t prescribe it. Damn, I miss that stuff.

Leave it the frick alone. frick the abusers. Those who are reliant on a certain drug should'nt have to suffer because of the idiots. "Raising awareness" in these cases seems to lead to no good. Particulary for those who need it. Not all mental issues can be solved with meditation etc.

frick CNN while we're at it.

I've had a script for xanax for at least a decade. I struggled with insomnia since childhood and didn't care for the side effects of ambien so doc suggested xanax. My dosage is .5 mg and I usually take half a tablet at bedtime. Haven't turned into addict yet.

If you have the means, try Yangming Acupuncture there. She’s comes from a legit acupuncture institution, same as my lady here in Nashville. I had the tight pressure/vibrating chest with racing thoughts for years, it took about 7 months of weekly sessions but I have taken nothing for almost a decade. I still go seasonally and for cupping when I tweak something the wrong way.

Benzos don't make you feel high. At least when I tried it. Maybe you just have to take a large dosage.
