Thx for link. Was searching for Mikhaila's update but got distracted. Man that's messed up. What a terrible drug.

a GP Rxed it to me while we were trying to figure out what was wrong with me, to "handle" anxiety. I took only a tiny dose a few times just to sleep. And hated it. My oncologist ordered me to throw them away immediately, once I started treatment. She seemed angry someone had actually Rxed the junk.

I live a normal life thanks to my Zoloft and Klonopin prescriptions.

You ever hear of someone abusing Ambien? I recently learned that someone I know abuses Ambien for anxiety. Dude drops Ambien all the time in the middle of the day and somehow manages to half arse function.

Holy crap. During the day? That's unbelievable. I tried that for sleep for a few weeks and I would do all kinds of wild crap at night and not remember a thing. Ambien Walrus.

So if you were to take a Xanax once a month (or every other month) as needed for a panic attack, what would the effects be on someone? What does the "mental part" refer to. I'm genuinely curious

once a month? like, for a few days, every month, or just one dosage per month?

i'll put it this way... when you take a controlled substance, with any regularity, it does alter your brain chemistry... the level to which is mainly dosage dependent, along with various genetic predispositions... when taking a controlled substance, after a while, your body and/or brain will become dependent upon that substance... this is NOT the same as addiction... to break that dependence, it takes abstinence and time, to "down regulate" receptors, and for the brain's neurochemistry to sort of return to normal, or as close to it as possible...

for heavy users, it is highly likely that the brain's neural function and pathways may forever be screwed, from it's original condition.... for recreational users, you are not likely to see as much sustained alteration to the brain's chemistry and neural pathways, thus, not having as hard a time to return back to "normal"....

it's not overly common, but i do have patients that are persistent when it comes to their sleep meds, and when I will allow them to fill it...

well, it is a benzodiazepine, so it would have some efficacy for anxiety... so it's not a totally off the wall situation you are describing...

he's developed a hell of a tolerance, but it's not as crazy as it sounds... i mean look at Valium.... some MD's use this, at high doses, to put you under for small procedures.... however, it's also given at lower doses for daily use for anxiety....

One dosage once or twice per month was what I was referring to.

yeah, that's not going to really have much impact, as far as dependence and altering your brain chemistry significantly...
