This makes me absolutely sick. There is no eternal damnation great enough to suffice as punishment for school shooters or anyone who harms children.

I Don't Like Mondays

"According to Geldof, he wrote the song after reading a telex report[7] at Georgia State University's campus radio station, WRAS, on the shooting spree of 16-year-old Brenda Ann Spencer, who fired from her bedroom window at children in a school playground at Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California, on 29 January 1979, killing two adults and injuring eight children and one police officer. Spencer showed no remorse for her crime; her explanation for her actions was "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day"."

Bend is a nice area

Like 95% honkey

Oregon is a nice state once you get out of the Willamette Valley

Bend is extremely woke. Like Portlandia woke. I follow the goings on there a bit because someone I used to know moved up there. Despite being, as you say, 95% white, 3 of the 7 school board members are POC. There's an ongoing problem in the downtown area with homeless addicts.

I will never understand what breaks a person, any person, to the extent that they decide to kill innocent kids that are in no way part of their lives or the condition of their lives.

Sad. Can’t imagine dropping your kid off at school and then ends up dying.

I will go to my grave saying that making schools gun free zones just makes them target rich zones for people who aren't stymied by morals or annoyances like rules.

This is true. You don't hear much about mass shooters at gun ranges

It’s evil. No definable/specific-enoug-to-be-useful trigger will ever be pinpointed to the extent it can be used in a meaningful way to screen these people entirely.

Sadly, that state is subjective and undefinable as well. Nothing we ever do will stop some people from doing evil things. Modern tech makes those facts more tragic than they were in the past

This is terrible. Poor babies. I am forever grateful for the BR deputy that sits parked outside my kid's school but it shouldn't have to be that way.

Jeremy shot himself at the front of a classroom. Didn't take anyone else with him.
