Baton Rouge is not the only city where I-10 merges to a single lane

Not that this should make us Baton Rouge residents feel any better, but Interstate 10 merging to a single lane at the base of the Mississippi River bridge is not the only place that happens. I've been to San Antonio many times, but guess I had forgotten until this trip that Interstate 10 does the same thing here when it merges with Interstate 35. However, San Antonio does have a loop.

Baton Rouge doesn’t merge to a single lane. Drive the bridge next time and stay all the way right until Washington street exit. 2 lanes.

I’m sure that San Antonio has the same volume of through traffic that Baton Rouge does linking the 3rd largest us city and the entire southeast usa.

SA actually has 2 loops, you can also avoid that intersection which I usually do by going I10W to I-37N to I-35S back to I-10W on NW corner of downtown.

It’s an exit only. The fact that assholes try to zoom by the traffic and cut in doesn’t change that.

I normally get off at highland when coming to BR 99% of the time anyways. Outside of LSU, I have no reason to go there or pass through there.

If I stay all the way right, I'll end up in the hood. Washington street is an exit only lane, so if you don't merge into a single lane as I-10 merges with I-110, you exit the interstate.

The right lane becomes an exit only lane after the left lane becomes the third lane on i 10 after 110 merges. It never is one lane. And where in the rules for interstate driving does it say that you cannot travel on an exit only lane and merge into another lane before you exit? You are sheep if you sit behind traffic in the left lane from the top of the bridge because that is an exit only lane.

I could fix that Baton Rouge ext with a couple cans of yellow paint and some barricades but have been told its a racist issue to close off those exits

I wish they would put up some kind of divider so that people just stay in the right lane instead of causing accidents by trying to immediately merge left. It’s not necessary. Just stay where you are. Particularly dipshits driving trucks.

I have never had issues merging into the 3 lanes by Washington street. I do realize that Louisiana has a ton of terrible drives and because of that, the I-10 needs to be widened right there.
