Post 9/11 GI bill pays for 4 years of college. I got my undergrad in 2.

2 years left to go to school. Law school or Nursing school for RN? What's the better field monetarily? I've heard the market for lawyers sucks right now.

I know a few wealthy lawyers and a few burned out nurses working crazy hours including weekends and holidays.

If you do well in law school it is great. A few fields in law have a shortage of capable attorneys and you can name your firm, if you did well in school. Healthcare transactional work being one of them.

If you do average or just above average it is meh.

Go to the cheapest good school if you go this route. Do not go to anything past say, the 100th ranked school. Ie Top 14 if they pay for it, if not, go to a good state school that won't put you into six figure debt. Lastly, go to a school where you want to work, this will help you get a job. It better be a metro, because you won't make diddly outside of one.

Otherwise, there are more than a few other careers that pay relatively similarly.

I would never go to law school unless I was 100% sure of and passionate about being a lawyer.

I'd do nursing just to bang all the super horney chicks. Nurses are by far the best lay a man can find.

I know a bunch of Law students who are struggling to get jobs, unless to have a for sure to a firm after graduation, I would go with Nursing.

That's wherein lies the problem. My dream would be to go to law school and practice as an attorney, but I've heard terrible things about the job market.

Flip side: I have very little passion for RN but the potential for 6 figures is there, and it's guaranteed job security anywhere. 3 day work weeks allow me to venture outside into other areas of interest.

Law is ok and the outlook is better than people on here tend to indicate IF you're in a significant legal market.

I don't know if nursing is more versatile than law, but it's probably much less controlling over your life. In other words, if you want to move practically anywhere, I'd think RNs can often find work. You're usually more tethered with law.

I imagine the MS legal market and Memphis kinda suck.

Ya, you can move around with law with waivers, some states being PITA about it. However, if you ever want to make partner you can't move that much ie ONCE . And once you build up your clients you probably at most can change cities within a state.

If you're just defaulting to law school, by God man don't do it. You will burn out before you know it and likely have a bunch of debt because of it.

I'd suggest talking to some nurses before you decide on that. GF did it, but only to get to where she wanted to be. She hated it. Terrible hours, rough patients, dealing with a lot of shite, doing all the work in patient care, not a ton of pay.

Either a) get a general business degree so that you have some flexibility, or b) learn a trade and be your own boss

This is accurate. You can do a shite ton of things with a RN besides working in a hospital. Plus, if you are single, there are now staffing agencies that pay very well for nurses to travel the US and work 30-60 day gigs at hospitals filling shifts for vacations and such. They put you up in an apartment or hotel. Pretty fun seeing the country and partying with the other nurses. There are also tons of other industries that employ RN's. But that holds true for lawyers as well.

Well you'll be a count either way, but at least as a nurse you'll be a net positive for society. Go with that.
