What do you think he's going to be doing while in clinicals in school and working toward the experience he needs for the advanced degrees?
He would be an extreme exception to make it through a BSN and on to the advanced degrees without a passion for nursing.
There are millions of people that do not have a passion for what they do and they do it their entire lives. He can suck up a few years of not having a passion to get his CRNA. At that point, their really is no "passion" or bedside manner needed.

He knows going in he isnt going to love being an RN, but he sees it as a career move with an end goal of being a CRNA
I absolutely have zero passion for being a CPA. Yet here I am almost 10 years in while being successful. I have a passion for making a good living for my family, and having pride in what I do
I personally think to many people are sold on "doing what you love, "finding your passion." If you passion is engineering, accounting, or healtchare consider yourself lucky.
My passion is hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. I had friends that let this passion lead them to a Forestry degree.........

Yeah but nursing is different. I'm not saying he needs to be super excited about being a nurse. But most people that go to nursing school do so because they have a genuine desire to care for others and make that impact on someone else. The ones that only do it for a paycheck won't last.

However, he wants to be a CRNA. That means he only has to gut out clinicals, and one year in critical care. That is a blip on the radar of life

People always say CRNA like it's automatic they will get in let alone finish.
Statically speaking you have a better chance of getting into medical school than CRNA school.
