I know a few wealthy lawyers and a few burned out nurses working crazy hours including weekends and holidays.
Usually nurses work every 3rd weekend. You can work 3 12's and have 4 days off. People usually fight for holidays because of the huge payday. Retire when you're 60.

Just depends on the hospital really. I had some where I worked every other weekend fwiw.

Again...depends on the hospital. From my experience...we were fighting alright...to have those holidays off. Not all hospitals pay extra holiday pay. So there is not always an incentive to work a holiday. You usually have to take turns working the big holidays. Where I worked at if you worked Christmas this year, next year you might be able to have it off if staffing allowed. Or you would have to work Christmas Eve instead.

Go to Nursing School...so many routes that you can take once you practice for a few years and know your stuff...Legal Nurse Consultant, Pharma Sales, Medical Device Sales...I even have an RN friend who carries,a gun and does Medicare fraud investigations...
I did bedside Nursing for about 7 years and now sell Medical IT and make a seriously great living...

Damn those are some feisty old people
ETA: Yeah I don't see myself ever going back to bedside nursing. Not worth it.

Either way, you'll be hanging out at the ER making some cash: an hourly wage or a contingency fee.
Post of the thread.

i'm a lawyer, and i suggest nursing. the population is aging and income is from 3rd party payors (insurance and medicare). the market is growing. for law, i'm not sure about market growth, but the market is well oversupplied and has been for years.
if you're willing and able to build your own practice, law.

If I had to pick one I'd be a nurse. If you're single you get to be around a lot of women. If you're single or married with no kids/toddlers you can take traveling nurse gigs. Basically go places nobody wants to live and take a 3-month gig.

I've gotten emails from travel nurse agencies offering to pay close to 5k a week to go work at hospitals in Houston right now. They pay you even when you are sleeping. However...you are working a MINIMUM of 62 hours a week and will be sleeping on a cot in a hotel or hospital. Must be able to work at least for a month

If you do well in law school it is great. A few fields in law have a shortage of capable attorneys and you can name your firm, if you did well in school. Healthcare transactional work being one of them.
I can't even imagine how much low hanging corruption fruit there must be in this field.

Exactly why I withdrew after two weeks, I knew I wasn't passionate. Was a T14 but I was paying full price

You do realize that straight male nurses usually bang the single cute female nurses they work with?

When I was single and a travel nurse my ideal situation would have been to meet another male travel nurse to date. We could have traveled all over the country together. Guarantee you that if you are an attractive male nurse....you are gonna be hit on constantly by the other female nurses. Many of them would LOVE to date a male nurse. He understands their work stresses, etc.
