Yea, if I went the RN route (which it sounds like I will) then I'd like to continue on to CRNA or NP.
I've heard both schools are ridiculously expensive though and are nearly impossible to attend while you're working

Nursing. Wife was a trauma nurse for 12 years. she would go to work at noon Monday and get off at 6 am Thursday. Pulled down 75k/yr. Go for it.

I'd just urge you to seriously think about if you want to do RN before doing the prereq work to get into a school. If you're not gung ho on being an RN, you're not going to make it through school.

Seriously, thank you for the advice.
The good thing is that because I already have a degree, nearly all of my prereqs are taken care of. I just need a chemistry and a biology according to a degree audit I've had done. Once I do those, I can begin clinicals.

Same can be said of nursing. When you are wiping renal patient arse you will have a depressing epiphany unless you love the other 90% of the job.
I can absolutely speak to the mobility of nursing. Jobs are everywhere. Money is not. See Louisiana. Certain places suck for cash. Always have the option to leave. Nursing is one of the few jobs where jumping around is not really frowned upon. Unless we are talking changing jobs every 18 months or so.

Yeah but he can't just get his RN and then go straight to school for a CRNA. He would need a few years of critical care nursing experience before he can even apply to a CRNA program. And depending on what hospital he works at after getting his RN, he may have to work regular med/surg for a little bit before he can get into an ICU setting.
OP...when you say RN...you do mean BSN right?

What do you think he's going to be doing while in clinicals in school and working toward the experience he needs for the advanced degrees?
He would be an extreme exception to make it through a BSN and on to the advanced degrees without a passion for nursing.
