lol Amex deals mainly with charge cards you lying mofo
And lol at getting educational scores from exquifax, transunion, and experian. FICO has 28+ different scoring models. All scores fluctuate depending on what type of credit/loan you are applying for.

800 is very difficult. You have to have decades of credit history, a decent income and very little debt.
Income is not a factor in determining your credit score.

I'm the guy that worked for Equifax and mine is 748. I highly question these other responses. An 800 credit score would be a guy with 30 years of good credit history and a < 10% debt to income ratio
My wife has less than 30 years of credit history - she's in her mid-30's.
Her score is 850 at one of the bureaus (out of 850). She has never missed a payment, no credit card debt (low utilization) and doesn't apply for credit unnecessarily. The only thing that reports to the bureau on a monthly basis for her is our house.
That's it. So you don't have to have 30 + years of credit history to get 800 + score. I am a little older than her and my score is in the 800's as well.

Well actually they do...
FICO Score range: 300-850
VantageScore 3.0 range: 300–850
VantageScore scale (versions 1.0 and 2.0): 501–990
Experian’s PLUS Score: 330-830
TransUnion New Account Score 2.0: 300-850
Equifax Credit Score: 280–850
Not sure what any of that shite is about, but I've seen dozens of credit scores and they don't go over 700. Hell, even 600 is rare.

Same with mine, she was setup with a credit card used for gas by her parents since she was old enough to drive. Mid 30s and an 850.
My parents were very anti credit/loan with me. I really didn't start building credit til I left college. Pissed me off that I had to have a cosigner on a lot of things when I had enough money to buy them outright. I actually took some loans just to build credit. I'm late 30s and barely have a credit history of 15 years or so and sitting at 833.
I recently checked both of them through my company's employees credit union.

Easy to get there. Land 2 good quality credit cards (i.e. low APR, skymiles, etc.) and don't ever cancel it. When you do, you lose all the credit history you have built up, and screw up your credit. Pay your complete balance of every month. DON'T SPEND WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE! If you have outstanding debt, pay off any lines of credit you have (i.e. Mortgage, car loan, home equity line of credit, etc.) in the order of highest to lowest interest rate. If you don't have multi lines of credit open, and steadily making more income, then once a year, call your credit card company and request a credit line increase. In the end, credit scores depend on your debt to line of credit ratio.
Oh, 838 credit score. Wife has 832.

I'm close at 765. Have a perfect payment history just my income to debt ratio keeps it from being over 800.

Income to debt ratio has jack shite to do with your credit score

Anything above 780 and especially 800 is just for "bragging" rights.
Rates will still be the same.

When I returned to the States after living overseas and bought a home I was told my credit score was very high, all because I had a Navy Federal Credit Union Acct. and CC.

I'm tempted, but last time I applied for a card a couple of months ago, the credit check made my credit score dip 15pts.

Amex offers multiple revolver cards. They don't just deal in charge cards..

Not sure why this would matter.

CC
This matters more in the credit score world. Even if you had a zero balance while overseas, it was reporting that you were paying on time and obviously you kept your debt to credit line utilization down.

Citicard FICO is up to 900 and not the standard 850.
