I put everything on a rewards card and pay it off monthly. My score dropped slightly when I paid off the student loans but it's still steady around 805.

Why pay cash when bank rewards are free money?

very close

i was getting killed by having 2 much debt to credit ratio. Which is bullshite, i haven't missed a payment in a 27 year credit history. But they were taking 20ish pts off a month for having the debt ratio. I thought it was horseshite.

Took care of the loan that was killing me the most and jumping back into the 790ish area. Next stop 800's.

the way they create the scores is a sham. I get zero credit for paying off my amex of 1K a month on time. But i lose points because i have high debt to credit ratio??? Yeah, right, ok.

Yeah that is where mine is at.....I get dinged for having too many cards with too much open credit capacity

I think you are mistaken. Having a high credit availability is a good thing so long the usage amount is low.

This is why I didn't give an exact number. What Discover gives vs what Equifax gives is often different by as much as 10 points. I know only Equifax is one of the 3, but I don't check those other two regularly.

They don't know shite. "I pay my bill on time" "Its not that hard to get an 800"

I'm reading through that bs like

Paying bills on time is like 30% of the equation.

After the flood my aunt had to max out her credit cards to remodel her and my cousins houses.

Her score dropped like crazy (i think to 650) and she paid all her bills on time. Available credit is like another 30% of your score and credit utilization is another 15%.

my wifes is higher than me and I make 90% of the money. She uses a few dept store cards to get discounts and I pay her cards off monthly

This

i paid the big loan off, and all my cards. kept everything open, and my credit score is soaring, because of all the credit i have, with so little debt.

Getting backk all the points i lost when my debt to credit ratio was high.

Mine was 850, but it dropped to 830ish after I paid off all my term debt.

If you're signed on as an authorized user on an older family member's accounts it can increase your average credit history...So it is definitely possible to have a 800+ credit score in your early 20s.

Not necessary because missed payments on that credit card will follow you to.

This is such horse shite, and it also killed me. I was in high 790ish area, then year later in 690's, because of high debt to credit ratio, with zero missed payments, no late pays, nothing.

The scoring system is actually bullshite.

Pick up another $0 fee card from your main banks competitor. Chase keeps my limit reined in but Amex and Cap are constantly throwing out offers with 5 figure limits.

Mine fell like crazy too because my mortgage company fricked up. I applied and was granted a 3-month forbearance at the end of which they reported me as 3 months late... I dropped to 640 and lost my shite. My "credit history" graph looks like the grand canyon.

I'm around 820. As long as you pay your bills and keep your utilization under 10% you'll have a great score. It's really not hard.

FICO's 5 factors: The components of a credit score

Each credit sector uses their own criteria to qualify you. There is no one credit score for all transactions.
