Make friends with a bartender. They’ll be able to find whatever drug you want.

Maybe it's only temporary. Maybe not ...

I've wanted to shoot myself since I was 16. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but I've always been generally been unhappy. I've always tried to think about how shitty my family would feel, and that has kept me going. But I'm running out of excuses. My parents are dead and I've just been diagnosed with, what seems to be, terminal cancer. frick me.

But to your point ...

1) Think about how badly it will affect your wife and child.
2) Think about how badly it will affect your parents and siblings.
3) Although you may not realize it, you have friends that will miss you and whatever you offer - humor, wisdom, cooking skills, etc.

Good luck. I wish you the best.

You fricked up and opened the box.

You NEVER open the box.

You can’t give it space or breath.

Slam the box and don’t think about it anymore.

Midlife crisis. The reality is that we all will perish on this Earth. Enjoy the younger years and try to understand that life is meaningless if there is no true purpose to life.

Why bother to go to school for twelve years? If we all die and that’s it, then our lives are a cruel joke with no meaning. Why do anything ?

A creator designed the universe and from the atoms he breathed life into non living molecules of atoms. Life has a purpose if and only if there is eternal life. Otherwise, existence makes no sense. The universe has no meaning or purpose.

That is poor news, White.

You're around Madisonville, right?

Good advice you gave to the OP.

Look into stoicism. I try to read a page or two of Marcus Aurelius’s “Meditations” every night. It’s not what you think; it teaches you how to be grateful and life in the moment.

Afternoons are just the beginning. Wait until the 3:00 a.m. anxieties hit. Can’t sleep for a couple of hours and then it’s time to wake up and pretend like all is well to the rest of the world.

Cheering for you OP. I hope it gets better.

My sleep has gone to shite. I can’t turn my brain off for shite and it takes forever to sleep unless I take a sleeping pill to which I’m hungover the next day

Thinking of trying CBD. That work for anyone?

I’d like to do this, but I don’t have the time. When would I go? I already put pressure on my wife to handle the kids once a week by herself as I earn side income with gigs. And we need the money from those side gigs.

And therapy is hella expensive. My teacher’s health insurance probably covers it though.

Yes. Been there.

1). Keep moving. Any movement at all. If you can’t get out of bed, get one foot on the floor. Build on that.

2). Make a list. Some days were so bad that the first thing on my list might be “turn on computer.” Just getting that done was a win.

3). Get medical help. There’s a ton of cheap drugs, and they help.

4). Excercise/hydrate/sun. Just a little if each go a long way.

5). Process emotion. For me, depression is unprocessed emotion. So process. You seem to have a feel for what it is. Deal with it. Counseling is the best money you will ever spend.

6). Journal. Ruthlessly. Write down what you are scared of. That always helped me more than anything.

That’s what works for me. I’ve dealt with it for decades. Good luck.

Sleep is important, man. Find a way. Some read to fall asleep, some pray, some exercise to wear themselves out. Find some kind of release away from regular world struggles that is positive. It’s not like talking about it, so I won’t pretend to know the answer for you.

To those suggesting weed, it causes massive paranoia to people like us. To those suggesting alcohol, it is a massive anxiety fueler. Maybe those work for some, but not for most.

To the OP: Cheering for you, bro. You are not alone or weak for having these feelings. Pretty common. Stay strong, bro!

I am now 41 and have yet to do jack shite about it.

One thing that helped me mind-over-matter it was talking to a really good friend, and opening up about it, then he shared all of the same things he went through, experiences, etc etc, and that helped me mind-over-matter when the shite hits. The shite also hits more when I'm under more stress. It's absolutely stress related but the physical feelings are 100% real.

Another thing that helped me begin to mind-over-matter the panic attacks was the realization "If these were real heart attacks, after having 100 of them, I'd already be dead".
