Seriously? Your dad was born in '61 and his parents still had an ice box, did he grow up in Hooterville.?

Definitely this, too. My grandpa who passed away about 6 years ago would call it a commode.

I called it that too growing up
This week I have called my fridge a lot of names because it's a PoS and has a factory defect. You would think that when you pay thousands for a higher end brand that it would be well built and researched but instead I am dealing with warranty repairs and keeping my food in an ice chest until then.

i dont feel sorry for you because same. that may be what triggered this in my memory is my damn "icebox" randomly goes into 'demo mode'..and doesn't give you ANY WARNING until you realize nothign is cold. no 'high temp alert', no nothing. fricking sucks. the only way you know is a tiny white LED that says 'demo' that you would never seen opening and closing the fridge because you have to touch the panel inside to see the settings and scan everything to make out the tiny 'demo'.
PUT IT IN RED. MAKE IT BLINK. MAKE A NOISE. SOMETHING!
second time the fridge has done this; without warning, no power failure nothing.
so i got to fill up a trashbag with almost everything in the icebox this morning at 6am and haul it out.
eta meanwhile the WESTINGHOUSE in monroe running non-stop without maintenance for 75 years is laughing and reminding me that HE IS ETERNAL.

That and going to the "picture show."

Whatever they're called, modern refrigerators suck hard. If you have a good one from the 90's-2000's, ride that thing till it dies.

Mamma’s got a squeeze box, and daddy never sleeps at night.

True story--my grandfather used to deliver ice from a horse-drawn wagon on Claiborne Avenue.

When she finally had enough of it my Dad hauled it to the dump and those guys put it in their building and used it for many more years. Thing was 20 yrs old when we got rid of it.
We have a metal GE refrigerator (likely late 50's) that still works and it keeps stuff ice cold. It is in the guest house at the family farm.
