Anyone else in a relationship with differing political views? Advice?

Nothing bad has happened yet in our relationship due to the great race riots of 2020, but boy I sense it festering. We’ve talked several times and it doesn’t go well.
Any tips for meaningful disengagement that actually works? We’ve agreed to (try to) not talk about political things and to focus on work and our mutual hobbies for the time being, but the energy still feels “off”. Covid and being together almost 24/7 for the last 3 months doesn’t make it much easier - at least my tennis club is back open so I can go hang there a couple hours a day.
Any tips from folks who have been living with this situation for longer than I have? ETA we live together and own a home together. Portland - so all our friends are left wing and I’m always on an island. I’m feeling a great deal of stress and Joel Osteen podcasts + weed aren’t quite working like they usually do.

You’re talking about you and your chick dog, right?

I do, or I should say did. Once I explained my beliefs she actually agreed with them. She was caught up on the social media bullshite previously.

we have been together for over 5 years and our political views (plus her not liking sports) are really the only things we don’t have in common. Everything else were pretty sympatico on.

Just be happy that you have a SO that thinks freely for herself and has opinions. I’d rather be with someone that has different political viewpoints than myself than somebody who has none at all.

Unless you’re extreme right and she’s extreme left there’s no reason y’all shouldn’t be able to talk like adults.

I’ve primarily dated liberals and didn’t really have an issue because they weren’t progressives.
The only conservative I dated was way more conservative than I was and actually low key terrified me.
If you truly love each other, your political opinions shouldn’t come between y’all that much.
My parents have differing views and haven’t had problems in 30 years up until these riots started. Now my dads preparing for a race war and my mom is buying the CNN narrative. Kinda sad but still working.

I used to date this girl from Atlanta. She was a bleeding heart Bernie bro type but she was hot so I put up with it and tuned out for the time. I should have known it would be a short term relationship. When she started going after me for having a different viewpoint and being who I am I told her to go frick herself and go back to the north Atlanta ghetto. She wasn’t poor or anything but had daddy issues.
Also, it doesn’t surprise me that you listen to Joel Osteen mate. Gross.

I no longer have this problem. I went and found a chick who has next to no interest in politics.

Don’t get in a habit of collecting red flags.
All fine and dandy y’all disagree, she’s hot, blah blah... but one day y’all will have kids and how you want them raised with certain values and principles - disagreeing on politics are a reflection on life’s values in a lot of ways

At least you have your mannequin to keep you company once she leaves.

In my experience that means a lot of arse play

I mean, does she swallow? Does she let you do anal? There are more important considerations than political views.

I told my wife yesterday with that blackout Facebook crap.
I empathize but until you fully understand the nuances and mission of a social movement, don’t be putting up support for anything in this house unless we both agree.
Don’t like it? I’ll help you pack your bags. Come back when you get your senses.
