Shed some tears on the drive to school drop off this morning. It hit me that my kiddo is the same age & grade that I was when this happened.

It’s heavy for me today. It was fricked up what so many people went through on those planes and in those towers and at the Pentagon.

No. It is normal to grieve less over time. That doesnt mean forget, it means you heal.

Yep this one hit me hard today. Thinking about the current political climate. It’s either far left or forever wars. Also the sadness of hearing about survivors of the WTC collapse losing their battle against cancer and lung disease from the toxic cloud.
September is also the time I lost a real good friend, someone I served with in the Army, to suicide back in 2013.
It’s been a tough day and I’ve shed some tears.

I honestly had no idea it was 25 years, until I heard it earlier, which is embarrassing to say. As I’m sure many here do, I work with a fair amount of folks now who don’t really remember the day. It’s extremely important to remember it, but I feel those of us who do have done a poor job imprinting on the generation below us what the day means and what the aftermath meant. I also don’t feel our country does a great job of recognizing it, which is crazy because it dominated everything about what we lived for years after and it impacts our politics to this day.
As rough as the political environment is now, it was one of the last times (maybe the last) I remember this country being truly united. I realize this isn’t remotely the same, but my view on the world would be wildly different without the perspective on the world from my grandpa who fought in WW2. This is a long post, but I hope we can channel that on this day at least in the future to those younger than us and help them understand what those days were like, and how strong this country is when everything is pulling in the same direction.

I’d tell you how I really feel today about 9/11 but I’d get banned. That alone should tell you all you need to know about where we are as a country. If I’m lucky things will pop off while I’m still around. If not, best of Luck kids.

The videos & photos of the jumpers still hits hard. Very hard. And then to hear that the first jet basically nosed straight down into the building, can't begin to imagine what those passengers were thinking.

Not the next day but like a week or two after I saw firemen holding out boots at a red light to collect for victims. Wasn’t sketchy fake firemen. They were wearing the uniforms from the town I was in. In their dept vehicles. People were fumbling in their cars to find paper money. $20 bills minimum. I only had a 10 on me and felt like a piece of shite.
