Woodward targeted Jimbo as the coach for A&M. He had all the resources needed to get his guy. Jimbo was his guy. Was the extension by next AD on Jimbo? Sure but Scott brought Mr. Fat Cheeks to A&M. Same thing with Brian Kelly. Scott went whale hunting and he brought back Kelly. Scott did well with Jay Johnson (beyond well) and he hit up Mulkey when Baylor pissed her off. But Mulkey ain't leading football. The 800 gorilla for LSU athletics in football and Scott fired O to go after his guy. He made a terrible hire. The contract game when hiring this level of coach is the game, no real way to change it. If you play in those waters, then there are risks/rewards that can't be avoided. Woodward missed big time and that he owns.
Scott isn't all bad but fiscal responsibility is not one of his strengths. Scott is a visionary. Leave the details to someone else type guy. Verge isn't exactly Mr. Details either. Bad Combo.

Clemson was the worst and by a long way that I've seen in 40 years of following the Tigers.
LSU can definitely improve but there as worse out there. Problem is space limits most stadiums and then demand surges occur before game / at halftime.

I'm only suggesting that if Texas A&M and yes, even Texas have looked at trimming some expenses than maybe LSU could actually look into it. I'm not saying we cancel football. LSU's solution is to plug the $20M dollar hole due to paying student athletes by raising $20M in revenues. Well, if that works then fine. But just do a simple google search and you will quickly see there are several major programs looking at trimming costs moving forward.

Via Houston Chronicle recent article on Texas A&M. If Aggies are cutting then maybe we should? Article summary follows -- The university's cuts will come from about $1 million in decreased expenses tied to the number of student-athletes; more than $2 million in cuts for sports teams (roughly 2-8% budget reduction); nearly $4 million, or more, in cuts to department administrative staff, department support and team support staff; and moving away from the $1.8 million provided in Alston Awards, which are four-figure annual funds student-athletes can use for academic-related expenses.
Athletics quit sending money to school during Woodward's 2nd year. That was a Joe Alleva deal

Non revenue generating sports
Administrative positions, like Verge Ausberry's role. He makes a very healthy salary for scheduling. Not exactly rocket science. Check out the athletic department website -- just a little bloat over the last 25 years?

Seems like Scott W is only focusing on raising more and more revenue. He has TAF going around trying to get donors to endow more scholarships to offset costs to athletic department. When will he actually cut real costs like several other ADs have done? No way LSU can solve the new world P&L issue by only looking at increasing revenue.
Tate did a solid job. Still DEI stuff going on at LSU. He left LSU in a much better place but its time for him to move on.

I would love to see Stephen Moret get a shot at job.

I get it Josh Pearson is a solid college player who has had big moments but he ain't even close to Brown's skills.

How many MLB teams screw with their lineup at the relative rate of Johnson? Jay is a good coach but he is way overthinking his lineup. Play Brown at 1B and Jones at 3rd and be done with it
But we are the Power House not the other 290
Moscona is an arse but he is dead right on Brown. Play the guy everyday.
The State of La. loaned Plaquemine Parish money to front load the expense of suing Chevron. Mr. Carmouche was not out of pocket any expenses in taking on Chevron. All these shenanigans were led by our current Gov in lockstep with John Bel Edwards and the DAs in coastal parishes. Guess what Chevron will go all the way to the US Supreme Court in this case. Carmouche knew this, hence the need to have the State of LA bank roll him until he actually gets his fee. Amazing level of corruption. All legal but complete level of bullshite. And our current AG Merrill, another bag of hot air. All these morons need to be voted out of office. But, La has the 10 Commandments in schools, at least for now. What a shite show.
LSU did the same crap and Gov Talk's Alot never did one thing about it. Not 1 person at LSU from the former DEI offices around campus was let go, not one.
He may do this he told me (wait until next year) or try to transfer into LSU NOLA after 1st year.
Yes.
He is not bullshitting. I thought that as well.
Kind of like everyone who played high school football gets better with age
4.25 GPA at LSU in Biochemistry. All A+... Every class thru last Fall.
Good point.
He may have blown the interview but I doubt it. He didn't show up in MAGA hunt with camo pants on for the interview. And I know he took interview prep class. But, who knows he may have come off as insincere or something like that.... Mom is a Dr and he has always wanted to be one so I doubt it but he may still have blown interview.
I asked this question. Apparently, NOLA doesn't publish their scores. I didn't know that was legal either. He doesn't know all the people's scores who got it, but he does know that his score is the highest of anyone who took it.... He could apply to Ivy League schools with this score. He needs to be in NOLA for family reasons. He sent score to 2 other schools outside of NOLA and got in pretty much immediately. I told him to apply to Tulane but he said Tulane is big time on letting in preferred students. He will still apply there. Just what we want a bunch of diversity Drs. And, it really isn't fair to the qualified Drs who happen to be from one of the preferred groups. Maybe Dr. Tate still leans a bit on his Phd dissertation?
