re: Any Catholic guilt, Lent for you all? Friday no meat? What you got?

A write-up on the fasting portion of Lent from catholic answers. But it's really more than that and should include prayer and almsgiving so we can grow closer to Christ.

Fasting is a biblical discipline that can be defended from both the Old and the New Testament. Christ expected his disciples to fast (Mt 9:14-15) and issued instructions for how they should do so (Mt 6:16-18). Catholics follow this pattern by holding a partial fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Abstinence from certain foods is also a biblical discipline. In Daniel 10:2-3 we read, “In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three weeks. I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks.” Catholics use a practice similar to Daniel’s when, as a way of commemorating Christ’s Crucifixion on a Friday, they abstain from eating meat on that day of the week during Lent. The only kind of flesh they eat on Friday is fish, which is a symbol of Christ.

I can't tell what you're raging about. Processed foods? Lent? Religion in general? I'm game to discuss each one if you have the guts.

No, I'm doubting you even know what processed food is. So, again. What are you eating for 40 days?

What does it do for you personally or what do you hope to obtain from it?
For me, it's a time to "get my mind right" with God and to attempt to remove things from my life that are distracting me from Him. This looks like "fasting" from things that aren't good for me physically (can be a food or a habit) and adding things into my days that put me on a better path (more exercise, reading, more Mass attendance, reading the Bible daily).
I participate in the fasting days, but generally it's to support a local church's men's club fish fry. I realize it's not really a sacrifice. And if we're invited over for steaks at someone's house instead, I really don't think Jesus cares one way or another. I would never make a big deal about it.

Oh, I didn't know we had the fricking USDA weighing in.
It's basically just meat, veggies, and fruit. Cutting out stuff that comes in a box or a can. I guess I could go down whatever rabbit hole you want on whether something is technically processed or not, but that's my start. I've done it before and it always makes me feel better, sleep better, etc. It's genuinely hard for me to do so I frame it as a Lenten sacrifice, which keeps me motivated in the Catholic sense.

I'm sure you typed all this as some sort of flex. But it comes more like you carry guilt for not practicing your faith in the same manner your family does. You sound angry. And a tad bitter. Rather than pick a fight with your family over it, you should probably do some reflection as to why you feel such hostility. Try to find some peace.
The judgement comes from the "give up meat" crowd.

It must be such a scarifice for Catholics to have to eat 7 pounds of crawfish instead of meat on Friday during Lent

I can see where it would be considered a time to give up something that causes you to sin or that interferes in your walk with Christ but only if you intend to continue on with it. If it is something that on day 41 you dive right back in then it makes no sense to me. But it is quite comical some of the things that people give up or the reason they do it.

I've been really battling with this for a few months. I just kept feeling like I was being led to water fast the entire 43 days of Lent this year. I'm not Catholic, so most of the replies from family and friends were exactly that, "You"re not Catholic. Don't do anything for Lent". Idk, it just kept weighing on me every time I prayed. After discussions with some of the doctors I work with and my pastor, I decided to start off Lent with the Daniel Fast for 21 days and then go into a water fast to end it. Less dangerous as far as losing muscle/heart issues. We'll see how it goes.
