"Multiple people were shot and their condition was not yet clear, ABC News reported, citing the St. Mary's County sheriff."

In fairness, the OP wasn't about the situation but how to put an end to the situation.

Then he refused to add any suggestions and decided to deride others and take one off the board because it doesn't mesh with his views.

He should go to the poli-board for his group think of he doesn't want a debate.

Well you aren't likely to get much reliable information in the minutes after such an event anyway

Any ideas on how to stop these?

They all need to watch the movie "Friday" and see how Craig has the option to use a gun to solve his problems, but opts instead for a brick.

I remember when it was always postal workers doing these mass shootings. I wonder what happened with that.

Maybe these are their kids, someone needs to explore that angle.

So what are your views on the mental health suggestion?

Cutting military funding to give free mental health. No. I'm against that.

I asked for other peoples opinions and you think that is deriding? Are you that butt hurt? Whining gets you nowhere.

Again...first things first. Make it harder to actually do what these guys have done in the past...which is walk in unhindered by any security. If the M.O. then changes, we address the next thing.

im just a fan of thinking about the 2nd and 3rd order effects of things and developing comprehensive solutions.

So you're ok with creating mental health problems but not treating mental health problems

do we have any new info about the actual shooting?

like is this a Parkland situation?

or is this one of those "someone shot someone in the parking lot of a school that wasn't really a school shooting" scenario?

quote:

In an interview on CNN, a student named Jonathan Freese said a person may have been killed, there are multiple injuries and the shooting occurred in a hallway around 8 a.m. local time. He said there are a couple of "well-trained" officers normally at the school and the response to the incident was prompt.

ABC reporter says 3 shot.

The problem you face with enhancing security at schools is that you make them feel like prisons. I don't know if that is bad or good. I would love to address the mental health issue but as I stated before, is there a universal diagnosis for it? When do we start looking for it? It's easy to spout of one word answers but that doesn't solve the problem.

Figure out why kids are shooting up schools and address that.

Outcast loner kids, no girlfriend, not good at sports, not popular, probably suck academically and overcome with jealousy of those kids who are good or have these things. Most will then turn to the violent bloody mas murder video games or the over violent movies, media and music. They are all a ticking time bomb it seems.

As some posters alluded too. Start holding parents accountable for kids under a certain age and charge them accordingly.

You need parents to get involved in these kids lives again.

There's a large majority of folks working 50 hours plus a week here in the US.

The amount of single mothers is growing because we put it on a pedestal instead of shaming it.

An entire generation has/is growing up with no fathers and now we are reaping what we sowed.

Wow, you mean good guys with guns can actually mitigate casualties in these situations?

Hopefully the one dead is the shooter.

If the school officers responded quickly and actually killed the shooter before he could kill anyone else I suspect this story will disappear quickly.

Someone posted a PSA to hot girls at these high schools on FB. If they just give these weirdo murderers some nice warm vag all of a sudden these kids won’t be so mad. Very simple and ppl don’t have to get mad at each other.

I'm all for treatment of mental issues in veterans, even their immediate family if need be. Not just anyone. Go play in traffic with your dumb liberal bullshite.

How many of these shootings were done by those created (your words)? I haven't seen many shootings by "created" military problems.
