Problem is with all the press coverage shootings have been getting lately, copycats are going to emerge, it's only a matter of time. Shoot, just locally, they are arresting someone every other day for making threats. You'll find these happen at rather large schools because 1) with limited resources, it is much harder to have eyes on every entry point in a school that contains 2,500+ students, 2) most of these schools have maybe 2 police officers covering the whole campus. It really is amazing this doesn't happen more often given the security protocol and access points of the many huge schools throughout this country.

First...identify the actual issue.
Is it kids being shot at school, or kids dying at school? You'd think this is an obvious answer, but given how the issue keeps getting addressed, it clearly is not.
For me, it's kids dying. HOW they are dying makes no difference. So my solution would start with making schools much harder targets than they currently are. Metal detectors, locked front doors where you have to be buzzed in by office personnel, etc.
But you start with making it impossible for a shooter (or anyone with bad intentions) to just stroll in off the street and start doing harm. If we institute that and we have issues afterwards, you address them.
But banning ANYTHING before first addressing individuals walking in off the street freely makes no sense...unless your actual goal in banning firearms and school shootings are just a convenient way of getting there.

Maybe vengeance towards a perceived slight or simply feeling rejected as a whole.
Who knows.
It would be great if the “vaunted” investigative agencies would start building a profile of the common personality types.
I do agree that attention, recognition, and the idea that they will be remembered plays a big part.

Until kids stop being assholes and administrators continue to ignore it, this will keep happening. Find the source and attack it. Guns aren’t the source. Little prick a-hole kids and their parents that don’t do anything about it are the source.

This. Banning guns is just something the left vomits out. They don't think past the "ban guns". Well, what guns? All guns? What do you do with the existing guns? Do you put age restrictions or is it an all out criminalization of gun ownership? Can you guarantee with 100% certainty this will end school shootings? Can you guarantee that by removing guns, that all violent crime will stop?
And since when has an inanimate object become sentient? And if we agree they are not sentient, then why are we going after the guns, but ignoring the perpetrator? Why aren't we diagnosing him as much as we are individual guns that are not living beings. That can not produce emotions.
The answer, is that gun control or gun bans is simply a political talking point exploited by the left during tragedies and emotion is the muscle behind this exploitation. Logic and reason are not involved at all.

No, but America is a violent place. It's kind of our thing among first world countries. Guns are fricking everywhere, regardless of your stance on them.
People have ended their lives in violent ways for a long time in this country. Columbine basically gave teens a blueprint.
