And while i agree, that mental health treatment should be better addressed for our military, why do you only want to take money out of the defense budget? Why can't we take it out of entitlement spending too? Or hell, why don't we actually fire the incompetent people that fail our servicemen at the VA?

I get it. My issue is that right now we have folks who are pretending they are addressing the issue with a non-solution. Like, it literally does NOTHING to solve the main issue...dead kids at school.
In no way am I suggesting metal detectors solves everything forever as bad folks adjust to the new solution...but it actually addresses the issue in a way that could make a dent today.
Same for locking doors and making it so that you need to be buzzed in. My son's high school is like that. Were someone to walk into that area with a weapon or who was not supposed to be there during school hours they would not be buzzed in. Now...does that then mean that they could not walk back outside (or start there for that matter) and shoot randomly into windows? Well, obviously not. But would we not be better served addressing what we can NOW rather than waiting for what might be considered a comprehensive solution that would addresses all future scenarios?

I think people are missing the host by focusing on school shootings only. Mass shootings are the issue as a whole. A student shooting up classmates and a disgruntled employee killing coworkers are too similar to separate IMO.

Serious question, out of roughly 325 million people, are school and workplace shootings that rampant? I mean we have drug related shootings daily around the country but those aren't popular to address. Why?

Agreed, I believe our kids are going to struggle when they get out on their own. Until they learn to not panic over every little thing.
