You just have to share the superdome with the evacuees. Should be fine.

System is still highly sheared but upper level divergence has allowed storms to consistently fire over night.

That has allowed low level vorticity to increase and has started to consolidate the mid level vorticity.

A lobe of mid level (yellow blob just south of Western Cuba) has been moving westward this morning towards the sustained convection and low level vorticity.

This might be a sign that the "center" is trying to get going farther west. Where the center consolidates will help determine how far west this can get but a bigger player will be the upper level setup.

Not that I really ever want to relive this in my lifetime, but when the flood of 2016 happened, all these fricking models were pointing to Florida/Bama early on, and we saw what happened.

The storm came from Florida Panhandle, meandered along the Coast & stalled for 2 days on top of South La.

Maybe be lightly alarmed.

SO does this mean that "perhaps" being at the beach in Destin will be "better" than being at home south of Lafayette??

And I wish nothing bad on anyone.

I’ve got some oceanfront property in Arizona for you if you think the evacuee culcha wants to hear some King George.

If it were just me and my ol lady then yes pretty fun but not with 3 kids under the age of 10.

I have two under 3 y.o. At least we have a babysitter coming along. We may turn into degenerates and hang at Florabama for 4 days, leave the kids at home.

I have no clue. Ever since August of 2016, I just come in these threads to see what rds dc says and pretend I understand all the fancy words.

We have a 3 and 2 y/o. I'm not looking forward to being cooped up in a condo for 4 days in OB. In-laws are coming to help but starting to think we should have canceled.

We have a 3 year old and 10 year old. Not looking for to being stuck in the condo in Destin either. MIL is tagging along so the wife and I should be able to get out and drink a few days away.

It's unlikely to be better in Lafayette than Destin. There aren't any models that suggest Lafayette will be impacted in any significant way. However, it's more likely than not that Destin will be on the worse side of whatever comes out of this mess.

To put it another way, I would bet on Lafayette having better weather than Destin from Saturday to Wednesday, but neither should be life threatening or anything at this point.

I don't believe models have settled on how far west this goes quite yet.
