Alabama Department of Education deems many classic P.E. games to be "inappropriate"

When this is happening in Alabama, you know things aren't looking good.

Kids are never going to learn to deal with adversity, losing, etc. I guess kids can just walk around the track at P.E. now.

I actually agree on their reasoning for some of these
Duck, duck, goose: Fat kids just sit around until they are picked, then run a short distance
Kickball: Unless you are running after the ball or just kicked it, there is 0 activity. Keeping fat kids fat
Musical chairs: The fat, slow kids get out first, thus remaining fat and slow

My fiancée is a physical education teacher here in Alabama. I just sent her this article. I would think this had to be an April Fools joke that was posted prematurely. Seriously, wtf?

This is bad. I can understand not playing red rover from a liability standpoint. Growing up we had a ton of kids break arms or pull them out of the socket playing that game. We dealt with it because we weren't pussies, but from a liability standpoint I can understand not allowing that game.
The rest is just absurd. We are just training our kids to not be competitive.
