What’s a “Black people”? I’ve known a lot of different people in my time, of all sorts, and for the life of me I can’t think of one who actually hated someone because of the color of their skin.
Now, I don’t mean to say that I’ve never known people to look at someone and make a judgement call based on a certain racial factor.
Hell, I was one of them, once.
Until, by twists of fate, I was amongst those who hue I did not share, as an ofay, outsider, honkie. A cracker amongst brothers blacker. And it was then I learned that the bonds that join us can be stronger than the ones that tear us apart, if we are but willing to find that common ground.

When men work, they have purpose. To make a wage, support a family, better themselves. Through shared toil we can realize that although we may be born from different lands, we all bleed the same. We all eat. And when you break bread with men as equals, you can begin to tear down the walls between us. This common theme rang true in my travels, regardless of the race or creed. Though an odd man out, I found that what binds men together is work and purpose.

And I came to realize that it isn’t color which fuels hate. That’s a lie sown by those who seek to divide us. It’s merely ready fuel. What is at the root is resentment. Men that work and toil are bothered by those that don’t and yet enjoy the fruit.

It’s the fable of the grasshopper and the ants. The ant doesn’t hate the grasshopper because he’s a grasshopper. He hates the grasshopper because he labors while the grasshopper plays. If the grasshopper toiled alongside the ant, he would come to despise the carefree grasshopper as well.

I’m rambling. Let me be concise.
