Do you chart the race of commercial actors during every Super Bowl, or is this a new pastime?

If this is how simplistic your view is of their motivations in this, then you have a child-like naïveté about the situation.

It is that simplistic. These companies don't give a shite about the black community or the white community. They care about selling their product.

The image they cast makes them seem favorable. More people buy. It ain't rocket surgery.

If they can get a few more clicks at the same time then hell yeah.

The pushing race agendas in TV commercials doesn’t bother me nearly as much as pushing race agendas inside companies. Young white males might as well hang it up.

Said to my son that they must have hired NBA marketing folks this year (I love the NBA, best marketing in sports).

The fact that we got through an entire SB without a single Bro Country song is actually pretty impressive. Coupled with the fact that the halftime show was aimed directly at the foreheads of Gen X and mainstream America, well, the NFL apparently recognized that most viewers aren't 55yo "salt life 4life" uneducated white dudes from the Florida panhandle wearing Columbia fishing shirts, Crocs, and Costa sunglasses.

Dr Dre is older than your hypothetical white guy. Snoop Dogg, Eminem & Mary J. Blige aren't far behind. This says more about the modern state of music and creativity. We need to pull out some old retreads from 25-30 years ago because most everyone today sucks.

Typical post for mmmbeer. It’s almost like commercials in past Superbowls weren’t successful, didn’t have black people, and in some years were not more enjoyed and more talked about the next day than the game itself (some years more anticipated beforehand than the game itself).

I guess I didn’t realize that a crappy Black Eyed Peas show, Justin Timberlake (and in further back one with Janet Jackson’s tit) , Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz, Missy Elliott, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Prince were when the NFL thought most viewers were “…55yo "salt life 4life" uneducated white dudes from the Florida panhandle wearing Columbia fishing shirts, Crocs, and Costa sunglasses”.
Also since I already mentioned her tit some other halftime shows:
Janet Jackson, Kid Rock, P. Diddy, Nelly and Justin Timberlake
"The Kings of Rock and Pop" featuring Aerosmith, 'N'Sync, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige and Nelly
Celebration of Soul, Salsa and Swing" featuring Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and tap dancer Savion Glover
"A Tribute to Motown's 40th Anniversary" including Boyz II Men, Smokey Robinson, Queen Latifah, Martha Reeves and The Temptations

Throw in James Brown, Diana Ross, and the one that started the NFL actually caring about half time shows - Michael Jackson and those uneducated 55 year old salt life 4life white guys in Florida seem to have a pretty diverse taste in music.

Edit: I think Michael Jackson and the change to making half time an event was in part due to In Living Color timing a show on Fox to fit in the halftime time frame taking advantage of the crappy halftimes at the time.
