Tell everyone where they got their shoes if asked because its the polite thing to do.

Appreciate the advice. Yea seems people don't like it much here lol. I've been for Mardi Gras of course but that's a bit different.

If you stay and school and work really hard you can overcome that one day

Stay on the river side of St. Charles, but be leery about going beyond Magazine St.
When’s the last time you’ve been on the river side between magazine and tchoup?
OP, ask the food board or the travel board. The OT has 0 good information about where to go in the city.

Ditto the suggestions for WWII Museum, City Park-Sculpture Garden. My French Quarter advice is to stay between the River and Royal St; Avoid Canal and Bourbon St.
For a different look at NO, take a ride to this Lakefront. Eat seafood at Blue Crab or Felix’s.
Have a great time!

As long as you don't get trashed and walk the streets at 3/4 am you should be fine.
New Orleans is one of the few cities you don't really have to plan anything. Look around, take in the sites and you can find something that intrigues you.
Take a trolley ride down St Charles. Visit the St. Louis Cathedral and light a candle or go to mass, she might enjoy that. See Jackson Square. Stroll through French Qtr. Most of the fancy places you need reservations if you haven't already. You might be able to walk in to a place like Antoine's and get a table.
Grab some coffee and biegnets.
Check out WWII museum.
Grab a poboy at a place like Parkway or R&O's off the beaten path.

Avoid the area south of Lake Pontchartrain and east of the 17th Street Canal.
On a more serious note, the area bounded by Canal, Bourbon, St Ann, and the river is the safest part of the Quarter. You most likely won't run into trouble during daylight hours.
Might want to visit Bay St. Louis on the way in or out.

One if the oddest recommendations I have read in a New Orleans thread.

Take a taxi out to the New Orleans Museum of Art. Wander upstairs to see all the Faberge Eggs. They are beautiful beyond descriptions. The eggs are something you can remember vividly and maybe make it a family thing.
Search out the Marie Antoinette painting (almost life sized), again something you won't see anywhere else.
