ACTUAL Employment Interview Red Flags

I used to have someone go look in their car and see if it was messy while I interviewed them. If it was I threw their resume away.

Ear gauges, if that's what they're called.

Dont need to wear a tuxedo, but at least take a shower and change your clothes after changing the oil on your Kenworth.

Don't lead with, "I value a work-life balance."

Had a guy on a recent interview say he needed to get the frick out of his current position

Neck tats…. Immediate hire… higher pay if they have visible chest tats with dyed hair

Hoodies.

Phone with you.

I actually had an interviewee tell me not to look at her facebook page.

I did. YIKES

I was once a recruiter for AutoZone in Memphis when they were a small company. I had a kid show up for an interview for the new store in Pontotoc, MS with a dirty t-shirt that said "shite HAPPENS"

After standard introduction, I decided to shift the conversation away from silly car repair and we dove into a pleasant discussion on philosophy and karma. Always remember that just because he would never be a employee doesn't mean he cant be a customer.

A lack of eye contact in an interview would generally tell me all I needed to know. Also when I was hiring for a fast paced production type job I'd walk at a brisk pace to my office with the applicant. If they could keep up that was a positive, but if they lagged far behind because they are the kind of person that moves at one speed (slow) I'd know they had zero chance of moving quickly 8hrs a day.
