Recently interviewed a chick that had white, blue, and pink hair. She had cat posters and plants all over. Sat in this decked out gaming chair. It was a teams interview.
She fricking nailed the interview, the hiring manager hired her (wasn't for my team), and she has been great so far

University of Phoenix, and other diploma mills go straight into the trash. You have a better chance of being hired if you leave those off.

If you’re a construction worker and live in your vehicle all day it’s gonna get dirty if you’re actually working.
It would be a red flag to me if it wasn’t dirty, means they aren’t doing shite. One guy where I worked kept a spotless truck and well, that’s all he did.

Every 6 months or so I have to interview entry level IT guys. Part of my job is to coach green employees how to work tickets and trouble shoot so I've seen a lot red flags.
In my expirence, if they have a lot of work gaps and don't dress properly, there's a pretty good chance they won't work out. My best hire was a guy who dressed up for the interview and paid his way through school as a busboy/waiter.

Dirt is fine. These were O&G mechanics and techs. I get the job because I did it for years.
I’m talking about a weeks worth of dirty clothes and food wrappers everywhere, not some caliche dirt and your lunch bag from an hour ago.

Never hired/fired.
My FIL (PSU guy) and his childhood buddy (MIT grad) would take people to lunch. If they salted their food before tasting it, that was a red flag.

I had a guy give me shite about this once in Kansas City so I reached in my backpack and pulled out a travel sized Tony’s packet and looked him right in the eyes as I dumped the entire thing on my food. Then I explained to him I’m from Nola and his yankee food was going to be too bland for me and there wasn’t any point choking down 1 boring bite to prove myself correct. He got a big kick out of that. I left him with a handful of Tony’s packets.

Falling asleep during the interview. I watched the dude fall asleep and was thoroughly entertained. He slept with his head on the table for an hour. We videoed the whole thing.
