quote:

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is looking into a raw milk problem that led to 60 people getting sick.

State health officials said they identified the people who fell ill between May 19 and Wednesday after drinking the milk.

Of those people, 45 were confirmed to be suffering from an infection caused by the bacteria campylobacter, which can be found in raw milk.

quote:

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it takes only a few campylobacter bacteria to cause infections and that “pasteurized milk offers the same nutritional benefits without the risks of raw milk consumption.”

Why has raw milk become the latest dipshit "health" fad? Are people genuinely drinking cow shite to show how anti-regulation they are?

C'mon man, more people have died from medical malpractice than raw milk.....at least that's the message I constantly see on FB.

Still think everyone should have the legal right to sell and buy it though.

Raw milk is delicious. However it has a very short shelf life.

I drank some thinking it was still good, got E. coli from it, and holy hell I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Haven’t touched it since.

Same here.

I think there is a dairy on the Northshore that distributes raw milk to some stores in the New Orleans area.

I guess I can scratch that test off the list unless I need a colon cleanse.

You mean to tell us that not removing the bacteria is dangerous?

Also, all milk has somatic cells in it, but at least milk fit for human consumption is regulated to a near null amount vs risking drinking a big glass of raw milk that is essentially just a glass of pus if the cow had an udder infection no one was aware of.

How? It is illegal to distribute raw milk in Louisiana for human consumption.

No way they are selling it and keeping their license from any health department.

Yeah I have a few friends that drink it all the time and swear by it. Give it to their kids and all. So I was tempted.

It’s good but ain’t worth the risk. Lesson learned.

Idk about LA but here in FL it says on the label for animal consumption only. They don’t sell it in stores but local farms will deliver it to you and to people at farmers markets. So I’m guessing that’s how they get around it?
