We are the only species in the world that drinks milk from another animal wholesale.

I’m not necessarily a proponent of raw milk, but so what? There are a lot of things that we do that no other species of animal does.

Idk in LA but here in FL it says on the label for animal consumption only. So I’m guessing that’s how they get around it.

Oh yea the same way they sell SARMs as "for research purposes only"

It's still risky to lose your occupancy/health license if you get a motivated health inspector

When I owned a gas station, I had a little old lady wanting to bake cookies and sell them in my store, but I couldn't because the health inspector told me she didn't have an approved kitchen, and her cookies did not contain ingredient labels

I would also think, despite the label, if someone gets sick and can prove you knew people were really drinking it, an attorney could make your life hell

I drank it for the bulk tank as well growing up, but it came from our bulk tank so I knew it was “clean” but not bacteria removed clean. I would not drink it now especially from someone I don’t know.

Plenty of other animals do it but like you said, not on the same level as us. I shot a wet doe in Tensas and a bear got on it in the 45 minutes before I found it. The first thing it went for was the udders. Coyotes do the same thing.

Go for it. It’s delicious.

The risks are way overblown. People eat raw oysters all the time and that’s technically riskier.

Yeah I'm not sure exactly how protected they are, but I know of multiple dairies in LA that sell raw milk in grocery stores and slap a "not for human consumption" sticker on it.

That’s because we’re the only animals that can go grocery shopping

I agree and it’s funny you mention this because the farm in new Smyrna beach that sells a lot of raw milk to people in central FL recently got in big trouble for poor sanitation practices. Like 20 people got E. coli. The guy that owns farm is acting like he did nothing wrong. Keely Farms is the name.

I’m not sure if there were any lawsuits, although I find that kinda hard to believe. Esp with John Morgan being in the area.

Huge liability all the way around for them.

I don't see how they aren't worried about the liability in a plaintiff-friendly state like Louisiana

Seems that any competent attorney could argue the pet food label was for show, and they knew what people were really doing with it pretty easily. Under LA law, a label does nothing if the seller knew or should have known that a product would be used in a certain way.

This was bound to happen and I imagine we’ll start seeing more outbreaks like this with the amount of influencers wanting it main stream.

quote:

Though consumed by only ˜ 3.2% of the U.S. population, raw milk is linked to 96% of all dairy-related disease outbreaks.

There is a Dairy Farm near Waco that sells "Raw" milk that I've had before (it was given to me from the owners). But their version of Raw is non-homogenized and low-temp pasteurized. Not much different than whole milk other than the cream rising to top since it is non-homogenized

People have been drinking “raw” milk for many, many years. As long as a cow does not have mastitis it is very rarely a problem. And, it tastes so much better than the watered down stuff they sell you at a super market.
