I don’t work in the field of my degree, but I have a pretty good job that I like and pays well because I applied for jobs that simply just required a degree in general and worked my way up from there.
If this person can’t parlay having any kind of advanced degree into a better job than Wendys, than his degree isn’t worth the ink it’s printed with.
