I got a worthless degree that I don’t use, but I stopped at a bachelors and was lucky enough to not have a cent of student debt.

People that ran up extraordinary amounts of student debt deserve what they get.

Sees like a fun undergrad for someone wanting to go to grad school though.
Yep. I promptly went to grad school.
It is a great degree - but there’s really nothing you can do with it. Except perhaps work for the government in those lowly jobs and contemplate your existence as you accept yet another food stamp application.

Why would someone move to a place before getting the job? ULL had an opening, so he moved there because he assumed he’d be hired?
Does this person that has $450k in student debt for a Philosophy degree seem to have any form of intelligence?

Roughly 2/3rds of college grads work in a field that requires a degree and less than 30% work in the field in which they majored.

Except it’s $450,000 in this case

Can’t believe nobody replied with this:
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
Sir, this is a Wendy’s

And when it comes to earnings for people who only have undergraduate degrees, philosophy majors have the fourth-highest median earnings, $81,200 per year, out-ranking business and chemistry majors, according to the ETS. Bar none, philosophy majors have the highest salary growth trajectory from entry to mid-career.
Doing what? I'm genuinely shocked. Im in my 40s a d never needed a philosophy major for jack shite.

Exactly - I’ve never gotten a job because I have a philosophy degree. I get them bc of my masters.
Never seen an ad in the paper looking/post on a job board for a philosophy major. If that was the case, I wouldn’t have gone to grad school

True or not it’s a sad reality of colleges currently. They’ve become degree farms for kids to put themselves in debt for worthless degrees.

At this point, just move out of the country cause you’ll never pay that 450k off. Credit scores are country specific, time to find a job in Europe if you can, or somewhere safe in South America and start over.

Universities stealing money from families offering degrees like that.

My painter from El Salvador made over $100k this year and has no debt.

This story doesn’t add up.

$450,000 in debt
If I went to any bank in the fricking world and asked for a $450k loan for a house, car, boat, RV, business start up costs, or any other idea I could muster up, they’d laugh me out of the building if I said, “I have no money and no foreseeable source of income.”
But say you’re a student and they hand it out. Not only that, the government is trying to find a way to pay it all off.
Looney tunes.

Even when I was young and stupid, I never understood majoring on philosophy.
A friend of mine took a philosophy class his freshman year.. I remember this because he was a grade ahead of me and I was still in HS.. He said the professor told them to be prepared for anything so he studied all the material for this test.. Gets to the exam and its one question "Why?" he said he wrote "Why Not?". He ended up with a B in the class..
But when I got in college and during exam week I remember thinking "how fricking arrogant do you have to be to be a philosophy professor, tell your class to prepare for anything, make them waste time preparing for your shite and you give them an exam asking why?" Especially in an intro class where most people are taking it as an elective and have more important shite to study for.
I can't say I feel sorry for him.. Almost a half a million to get a philosophy degree? He could have gone to a community college and got a 2 year degree that has more value.
