They didn't say you'd be disallowed from leaving town for a few hours. I'd be back in my bed the same night. Am I also forbidden from driving or walking 20 minutes to the next town down the road?

Do I still have all of my bills? Phone, cable, internet, etc...?

I was thinking I’d go back to New Orleans, but I’d probably be too broke to enjoy it even with only $1200 rent.

If the 3k only goes toward rent, food, and entertainment it might open things up for me.

So, everything at my regular home is paid for, for a year, and you give me $3K to live somewhere. frick, I'm gonna live at home and get my $3K for doing nothing. LIke you said, $3K isn't going to get me anywhere really luxurious so might as well stay home, live free, and have some reasonable fun for a year.

I’m focused on the pause of everything at home. I could live damn near anywhere and enjoy it. But, if given the chance, I’d probably use the time away from home to start a business. Maybe go to Bogota. Start a small export business. Retire afterwards.

Main issue for any location would be access to affordable hsia/celllular coverage. It ain’t paradise without a little YouPorn time...

When you say your home life would be the same when you got back, does that mean you can’t pocket the money and make a profit on the exchange rate?

I dont think I could even live in Slidell for $3000 a month.

You can/ can't. You could find a decent 1 BR apt there for about 950.00 a month.

However your other expenses would eat you up.

Overall, the Greater New Orleans area is no all that cheap.....it's not NYC/ SF expensive, but things are not cheap that you would not be hurting with only 3K a month coming in.

I would go to Antigua or Jamaica in the Caribbean.....3K will go a lot further there

I would require quality food and outdoor activities. Maybe somewhere in Thailand where you could actually afford a better lifestyle. I may just look at some place like Asheville that has a good beer scene and good mountain biking/hiking. Hunker down and just live a simple life.

That was the whole point of the thread. Apparently, it was too difficult to comprehend for some of the halfwit dullards that post on this website.

Would you live in a third world country and live well?

Would you live in a shoe box apartment with multiple roommates in a major, worldly city (Paris, London, NY) to enjoy everything the city offers?

Would you live in a mountain town or low-key beach town to enjoy that slice of paradise?

Somewhere in Eastern Europe where the young women are all 10's and eager to hook up with an older American man.

I'm not sure you could have written the OP more poorly. You probably shouldn't be throwing out any insults
