3k per month tax free is 36k per year. Fica is 7.65% plus federal and possible state income tax, let's call total tax burden 25%. Pretax that's 45k

Honolulu, when i first moved there i think my rent was 800 to get a room in someone's house. So 2200 left a month to enjoy

Cozumel.

It would be a glorious year of scuba diving, drinking ice cold SOL, and eating great food. Would probably start some Tech diving training or maybe even complete Dive Master certification.

Damn...what a year this would be.

I don't know when you lived there, but doesnt Honolulu have some of the most expensive real estate in the US now?
